Tyrus suspended for tonight's tilt |
|

Chris Richard is filling in nicely so far... I bet he gets more minutes than the 15 or so Tyrus go the last couple, even with Noah sidelined.
As to the suspension:
Quote: "It's unfortunate timing, but in the short run, there's a responsibility," coach Vinny Del Negro said. "No one player is bigger than the team, and there's a responsibility to do things right. ... It's not one person. It's a group, and you have to be committed to what your role is on the team. You have to be committed to your teammates, your coaches, the organization. That doesn't go just for Tyrus; it goes for everybody."
Thomas, who missed seven weeks with a broken left forearm, is averaging 8.5 points and 6.2 rebounds over 25 games in his fourth season. He played well when he returned in late December, scoring 21 points and 19 points in two of his first three games back, but his role lately has been limited. He played 16 minutes at Atlanta on Friday after getting 15 minutes in back-to-back games against the Los Angeles Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers.
"We all get frustrated," veteran guard Lindsey Hunter said. "You can't act out your frustrations. At some point, you have to grow up and be a man about it."
He hopes Thomas will grow from this.
"Maybe this'll help him understand he needs to get beyond some things," Hunter said. |
Both coach Del Negro and Coach Hunter are pissed, it seems.

Hinrich, Thomas & Salmons for T-Mac? |
|
Feb 08, 2010 - 7:00 PM - by Shapecity

Quote: It's been known for some time now that the Bulls are making Kirk Hinrich available in trade talks. As the Lakers are looking for perimeter defense, he's been linked to them. Hinrich has also been rumored in trade talks with the Celtics. First, when the team was looking for a third guard, and now again with the team possibly shopping Ray Allen.
The Bulls are looking to clear cap space in an effort to sign two max free agents this summer, so the idea is to get expiring contracts in return for Hinrich's contract, which has two years and $17 million remaining.
But as ESPN's Chris Sheridan notes in his chat today, the Bulls aren't looking to jump at a swap with L.A. Instead, a more preferable route might be pawning of Hinrich and John Salmons to Houston for Tracy McGrady, which would clear even more space, as Salmons has a player option for next season, which he's not expected to opt out of.
The Bulls would also get an All-Star caliber player in return for the rest of the season, an added bonus as opposed to a deal with the Lakers for spare parts.
""The Bulls are not ready to pull the trigger on the reported Kirk Hinrich for Adam Morrison's expiring contract deal. I think if they can do a McGrady deal in which they clear John Salmons and Tyrus Thomas along with Hinrich to clear room for a second max free agent, that's the more preferable route."" |

Halfway to the Glorious 5th Seed |
|

The season's half over and there have been a few surprises in the race for the crucial likely first round loss that many won't notice and most won't see. The top four (Celts, Cavs, Hawks, and Magic) have stayed separated. One of the interesting things is that there is a second group that have broken off. The Raptors, Heat, and surprisingly to some the Bobcats are all right around .500 and clearly a step above the rest barring injury or trade. I don't see any of them falling back to the pack or being caught from behind, except for maybe the the current eighth seed.
The eighth and final spot is still up for grabs to anybody but the nets. Currently held by the bulls, pretty much everybody but the nets still have a shot if they play good basketball. However, the chance that any of those teams put together the 3 threes weeks of good basketball is slim. The breakdown:
Current 8th: The Bulls have shown that if they get solid contributions from 1-8 they have the talent to beat 25-27 of the teams in the league. However, they've also shown that if they only have 7 guys show up they are 99% likely to lose. The maddening inconsistency means they can't get to .500, but it means they have a 2 game cushion for the 8th seed and are as close to 6th as they are to 9th. Pretty amazing given all of the blowouts and discussions of how bad things were. It could still go either way, but if they remain healthy and don't dump the salary of Hinrich or trade Tyrus away I see them in the playoffs, maybe even moving up after a post all-star break run. Assuming Vinny doesn't fuck it up, of course.
9th: Milwaukee suffered a loss when they lost Redd to the same knee injury again. They have the best combination of talent and coaching to get it done. Stackhouse might be enough of a fill in for them to get it done.
10th: Knicks aren't going anywhere. They are also doing everything they can to dump the salary they need to get... [Read More]
