This has been the most brutal sports year imaginable for the state of Washington.

NBA - The Sonics. 'Nuff said.

MLB - The Mariners were a preseason favorite and expectations were high. They were the worst team in baseball, losing 101 games and finishing 39 games behind the Angels.

NFL - The Seahawks are 2-7 in the worst division in the NFL.

NCAA Football - Washington and Washington State are a combined 1-20 and are 0-15 in the Pac-10.

NCAA Basketball - The Cougars were good last year and won a few tourney games. The Huskies were bad last year and lost their first game this season to Portland. Neither team is ranked.

WNBA - Now we're reaching, but the Storm put together an incredible roster that looked like an All-Star team. Result? They got bounced in the 1st round by LA.

These things go in cycles, so it'll turn around (except the Sonics - that's for sure), but WOW! 2008 will be a year to forget in the Evergreen State.
