Sir Charles... ah yes... he's quite a great basketball mind alright... I've lost count of how many times I've seen him ramble on and on about crap that nobody (not even in the studio) can follow. There would be so many awkward silence or nervous looks from the other crews that it's actually funny. Instead of listening to Barkley's comment, I just end up praying that he won't do or say anything completely retarded and irrelevant...

    Usually my prayers went unheard.

How can you not like Charles Barkley? He's not afraid to say the things about these players that no one else would dare say.

That and his rants are hiliarious. Just because you don't like him doesn't mean he doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to basketball.

The best color commentators are almost always coaches. Ex-players usually just suck up to the stars and just say stuff that any NBA fans could come up with. Bill Walton doesn't provide any insight into games either. Steve Kerr is a rare exception. He actually comes off as fairly knowledgable and does his homework.

Doug Collins and Hubie Brown are the best analysts working national games right now, in my opinion.

And is it just me, or has the quality of Inside the NBA gone down drastically in the past few years? They cut to commercials 80% of the time, and a lot of the stuff coming out of Magic, Kenny, and Charles's mouth are barely coherent. Magic, in particular, is terrible. There must be an inverse relationship between how good a player someone is and their ability to speak intelligently about the game. Guys like Kenny Smith, Greg Anthony, and Tim Legler sometimes make good points every now and then. Steve Kerr even more so. But Barkley and Magic almost never say anything that makes you think that they are experts.

I'm just saying, Charles does not tell me anything I haven't already known or give me any insight in basketball. Sure he's not afraid of saying things about some people but that doesn't make him knowledgeable at all. He can say C-Webb is a crybaby, Walker shoots like a girl, Ron Artest is a crazy nutcase and should go to a mental hospital, etc etc, but come on, everybody knows those facts/opinions. That hardly makes him a knowledgeable basketball analyst. Even us regular basketball fans could've made those observations.

Both Magic and Barkley might actually be knowledgeable basketball analysts, but they sure lack the ability to show that on TV.

Yeah, when asked to comment about the 76ers coaching situation with the hiring of Mo Cheeks this fool says, "It looks like the Sixers are just adding cosmetics to their team trying to make a bad situatioin look good". This dude is out there, and he gets on my nerves.

Charles and Magic, IMO don't know all that much as they should as analysts, but atleast Charles is funny....Magic is annoying, and is just plain bad.....Hubie and Steve are some of the only people that actually look like they know what they're talking about.

I remember when Magic was on NBC during the early 90's and he sucked then. LOL. I remember when BIll Walton never gave guards compliments, and was always on big mens nuts. (Hakem Olajuwon). I remember when Steven A. Smith didnt scream when he was on Inside the NBA on CNN. I would say the best commentators, are Doug Collins, Hubie Brown, Mike Fratelleo, Steve Kerr, and David Aldridge. I actually like Greg Anothony, because he speaks well, and he replaced the Horrible Tim Hardway. Saying whuzz up whuzz up whuzz up, can only get u so far. I remember when Tim Hardaway said "He put the ball in the hole" [IMG] As for Tim Legler, he stinks period, He was an ass player, and an ass announcer. I totally lost respect for him when he blamed the entire fans vs player brawl in Detroit, all on the fans [IMG]

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CRM2K4:</div><div class="quote_post">Anyone else hate when Bill Walton is calling a game? It's to the point were I will almost not watch it so I don't have to hear that moron babble on. I don't know where he gets his opinions from, he just said that Manu Ginobli was as good or better a player than LeBron James, Dwayne Wayde and Kobe Bryant. I guess you could argue that but I really don't see it. Also during the Pistons/Pacers series, in Game 5 (pretty sure) the Pistons were down almost the entire game, and Walton ragged on them the entire time. He said that the Pistons were overrated defensively and weren't nearly as good as everyone says. Then all of a sudden the Pistons go on a run and end up taking the lead...All of a sudden he's talking about "Oh yeah, defense wins championships!!" The guy is a walking contradiction, he contradicts almost everything he says later on in the game. His opinions on teams change with lead changes it seems like. ABC...Please do us all a favor and remove him from your broadcasts...The remainder of the playoffs would be ALOT better. [IMG]</div>
You guys are taking it too seriously. I like Walton, he's never right, but he's not to supposed to be. He makes me laugh, and it's always funny to see him and Steve "Snapper" Jones go at it. He goes overboard but that's what makes him funny. Now Barkley, he's too negative for me. I like Kenny Smith the best, and will ya'll stop raggin on Magic. Magic is above average. The worst to me, would be Tom Tolbert. He just doesn't have it. His high pitched voice just doesn't sit well with my ears.

I'm surprised all you guys think Bill Walton is serious about what he says. He says stupid things just for the sake of comedy.

Bill Walton one of the worst ever?I think not.
"Amazing,Brent Barry is one of the best rebounders...in his family!"
"Tony parker says 'im guarding this INCREDIBLE WINNER OF THE GENETIC LOTTERY,and you call a foul?'"
"Beno Udrih fouling Stoudemire on the break with his back while running away from him." [IMG]

My favorites are Kenny Smith, Stephen A Smith and Steve Kerr..Those guys actually seem knowledgeable in Basketball. It seems like so many announcers nowadays are merely fans, there basicly telling you what you're already thinking. And I'm sorry, Bill Walton is a moron...

I remember Bill saying last night during the game that Tony Parker was the fastest player in the NBA. Tony's fast, but he isn't faster than Iverson. What is Walton saying?!?

I'm not sure, Iverson is 30 and Parker is young, so they could be about the same run-speed. I think Iverson has quicker hands and better handles, but run-speed Parker might match him.

Anyway, when Iverson's team has been knocked out first round, you tend to forget about him, you only are currently thinking about playoff bound teams and their players.

Walton could have said Parker is the fastest player still in the playoffs and be correct.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NBAFan4Life:</div><div class="quote_post">he was rippin on nash all game.. "He is Un Athletic" etc. he needs to shut up lol</div>

lol I think he was just trying to exaggerate the fact that Nash may not be the most athletic player in the league but he uses his cunning and skills to more than make up for it. By exaggerating a negative, he's trying to make a positive more positive. Got it? Good.

But yeah, I appreciate Walton's announcing. I think you can really sense that he LOVES the game and so all of his comments are ridiculously hyperbolic. He seems like a fun guy with a good heart though! [IMG] Color commentators are supposed to be colorful! I'd rather listen to him than Stephen A. Smith any day. That guy is truly a jackass - why does it seem as though he's always yelling at you? lol
