This is a joke right? That he is still considering college while poised to go top 5? source

Maybe it shows that he might actually want to get an education unlike these other high schoolers who are too worried about the money. Or maybe he wants to improve his game a little more and go to college. I personally think he's being overrated because of the good McDonalds AA game he had. We all know that the McDonalds AA game consists of player showing off. And don't you think its a little too early to be comparing this guy to Tracy McGrady for gosh sake?

Let's just hope he makes the right decision and goes and plays for Eddie Sutton.

This would be great for college basketball and I think he should go to college. That would also change up the draft and make interesting.

It is one thing to want an education (from what I've read, Green actually seems to be a decent kid) and it's another to be intelligent. No single course in any university (besides some hokey-pokey philosophy course, etc) would teach you to choose a half-assed 4 years of university/college over the guaranteed millions of your lottery contract. When I say half-assed, I mean you can't expect to devote as much time as you would like to ur studies if you had to do all of the basketball stuff as well.

Look, get your millions, set your family straight.. An education WILL still be available to you down the line if you want one.

One such scenario: let's take a tri-semester university. If Green takes a full-course load in the summer, he could earn a 4-year degree in 8 years! lol. Assuming he's 19 now, by the time he reaches 27, he'd still be young, but also rich, famous, and edumacated.

    Peace. That's the truth.

One could make a case with one year in college Green instead of being a top 5 pick would be a top 3 lock a year later. As a fan of college basketball I would love nothing more than to see Green in the college game but at the end of the day he is a young kid and guys like him like the big money ahead of education and the college lifestyle.

Point taken. I think what kids are missing out by defecting straight to the NBA is the college lifestyle. Otherwise, I doubt they're missing much from not taking first-year courses. Pick up a good book - that's just as valuable as any first year course. Of course, it's a whole other matter if he was adamant about doing all 4 years of an undergrad degree.

I just think that if he really wanted an education, he'd be more than able to obtain one later on. As for moving up from top 5 to top 3, I think that's a bit too risky of a bet. The way I see it, high school ballers are like pretty chicks who tease you by being mostly fully clothed. The more layers (years of college) you take away, the more faults you see (eventual as no one is perfect).

The only thing Green is thinking about is what suit to wear to the draft at this point. Please he is just going to be drafted top five, take the money, and run. I don't believe his stock will be higher then it is now and there is actually a possiblity that he averages four a game at OSU and his stock goes down, probably not going to happen.

If he believes this year he will be a top three pick, then next year he will be the number two behind Rudy Gay IMO. Going to college to improve your stock one slot isn't worth it.

I saw Gerald Green on local Houston TV last night, and he said that he hired an agent already. So he will be entering the NBA draft this year.

    yup

    its official:
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"Gulf Shores Academy senior Gerald Green, the country's No. 1-rated high school player, has hired sports agent Andrew Vye of the Atlanta-based Kauffman Sports Management group, thus voiding his NCAA eligibility and solidifying his commitment to the NBA draft. Green had signed with Oklahoma State. Although he declared himself eligible for the draft on April 19, he didn't hire an agent and was still interested in attending OSU in the fall."
