<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">However, Kings co-owner Gavin Maloof said Tuesday that he had no knowledge of the Trail Blazers making a request to speak to Adelman.

"I know they haven't asked me and I'd think if they'd have asked (brother) Joe," Gavin Maloof said, "I'd have heard about it."

Portland general manager John Nash said Tuesday: "We're not divulging who we've asked permission to talk to."

Adelman, who has a home as well as five grandchildren and three children in the Portland area, said his history and roots in the area would have made a conversation about the job at least worth a listen.

"I have a great job here and I've always said I wanted to stay here, so that never has changed," he said. "There have been a few bumps in the road since the season ended and - how do I say this? - it hasn't been the most pleasant experience since the end of the season."

Adelman, who played for and coached the Trail Blazers before being fired in 1994, said he was not trying to talk his way out of his final year with the Kings knowing Portland reportedly is offering $24 million or more over four years to Nate McMillan.

"No," Adelman said, "because I don't even know if (Portland's reported request) is true and who is to say if permission was given, what would happen.</div>

If the Kings did decide to lose Adleman, they would need a premier coach in return. Flip Saunders perhaps?
