    Jonathan Givony

Zarko Cabarkapa- This big guy has skills that no one else does at 6-11. He has an awesome handle which he uses to get into the lane repeatedly and score on his man, and solid range out to the NBA three point line. He isn?t particularly quick or athletic, but he?s really fun to watch and a total mismatch for the opposing team.

Ike Diogu - Great footwork in the paint, showed all kinds of moves to get his man commited before taking him to task. Was a bit unlucky at times but made his presence felt in other areas before clearing the floor for less proven prospects the Warriors need to see.

Was doubled a lot in the post and forced to give the ball up in the 2nd half. Showed awesome hands once again to snatch some big offensive rebounds and come up with a strong hook shot inside the paint. Must work on recognizing the double and getting rid of the ball quickly for the re-post as teams are delaying it in order to get him trapped on the baseline.

Andris Biedrins- Ran the floor really hard, showed great hands for a 2nd straight day to make a tough catch in transition and finish.

Didn?t play all that much, but was solid in his time on the floor without standing out too much. Solid post moves for the Warriors starting unit although they barely played him in the latter half.

Monta Ellis- Hit a nice three pointer off the dribble, got excited and forced another one right after that which he bricked. Not much in terms of PG skills, but did a good job putting the ball in the hoop. Once again made an effort on the defensive end.

Chris Taft- Was loving the fact that he was being guarded by Martynas Andriuskevicius. Showed some nice footwork to use his trademark jump hook shot to score on him repeatedly. Did some very nice work inside the paint in the first quarter. Got a little scrappy on the glass and with loose balls as well.

In the 2nd half Taft continued to work inside the paint, scoring with back to the basket, coming up with offensive rebounds and playing solid defense. Granted most of what he did was against the string bean Andriuskevicius, but it?s an encouraging sign regardless to see him actually motivated.

No boxscores unfortunately. Nba.com is kind of slow on this.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Martynas Andriuskevicius- Looked completely lost from the very second he got in. <font color="Black">Got stuffed by Diogu on his very first shot in America</font>, and <font color="Black">then was dunked on by Chris Taft</font> on the next possession down the court. Threw the next pass he got 10 feet out of bounds, picked up a couple of fouls and then dribbled the ball off his foot. Stroked a very nice 12 footer from the baseline. Played nice defense on Chris Taft to force him into a travel. Made a great pass to Ike Udoka. Got on the floor to force a jump ball.

Looks like Taft was playing center or Marty was playing power forward. Probably center since Diogu was on the floor with him. I'm assuming this from the above text where it says "next possession down the court". Diogu threw him a small block party welcoming him to America and Taft made him a poster as a welcoming gift. Man, I'm glad we sure didn't draft that guy in the 2nd round. Maybe call it premature to judge his overall game just yet, but sometimes you just got a hunch about these type of players. Taft was already pretty questionable, but sometimes you got to take the risks to get a unique player.

Yeah, I mean we even drafted Chris Porter and he kind of turned out ok until he ran into all that trouble and went crazy. Well, it was worth the shot with that 55th overall pick, anyway.

I just think Martynas made a mistake by not withdrawing. It's clear he's raw and young, and he's still growing into his body. He's got a ton of pressure on him, and it would have been better for him to stay and learn in Europe, even if he had NBA hoop dreams.

The game just finished 2 hours ago or so, so you have to give em a little time. They're getting paid about squat for doing this, and if I was the webmaster I'd be like, dang it's late, I'm going to bed and updating in the morning.

Just remember that ESPN ripped Dirk and the Mavs for his entire rookie year. Andriuskevicius is several years away, but so way Jermaine O'neal.

Good to see our guys are motivated and playing hard on defense. We need defense at all positions on the court...

    [ Box Score ] [ Recap ]

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> The Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Golden State Warriors, 82-69, behind the sharp shooting of Luke Jackson and the speed of John Lucas Jr.

Jackson, who was injured for the majority of last season, showed the shooting ability he is known for by connecting for 11 points (5-11 FG).

Lucas used his speed to get into the lane and finished with 12 points (6-8 FG).

Cleveland finished the game shooting 54 percent (37-68 FG). They out scored Golden State 34-14 in points off turnovers. The Warriors finished the game with 25 turnovers, the Cavs had just 12.

Ike Diogu (7-14 FG) and Zarko Cabarkapa (5-10 FG) had 15 points a piece.

Golden State finished the game shooting 49 percent (26-53 FG).

The Cavs shot 57 percent (13-23 FG) in the first half and used their stifling defense to force 13 Warrior turnovers, resulting in a 18-6 advantage in points off turnovers. Udoka contributed 10 points (4-5 FG) in the half.

The Warriors were led by Cabarkapa in scoring with nine points (3-5 FG). The Warriors shot 57 percent (13-23 FG) in the first half, but took 11 fewer shots than the Cavs.

The Cavs take on the Boston Celtics on Monday at 3 p.m., while the Warriors battle the Detroit Pistons on Monday at 5 p.m.

Looks like Taft really enjoyed this. I think that this was a great draft for us. Diogu and Taft will help us for a long time and Ellis is looking very good

I like Diogu and Taft's box scores...Diogu had 15 points(7-14FG 1-1FT), 9 boards(3 offensive), 2 blocks, and only 2 turnovers in 27 minutes. Taft had 8(4-6 shooting) points and 7 boards(5 offensive) in 16 minutes. I don't know how he could have 6 turnovers though. Does he have Foyle hands?

The one part of the game that is killing the Warriors is the passing/turnovers. They had 3 assists and 25 turnovers. I don't think teams win very often with that stat, hehe. It's good to see some of these young post players doing well, though Zarko, Taft, Biedrins, and Diogu did have 17 turnovers combined...and 0 assists. ouch

Diogu certainly seems to be the center of attention on the summer league team, he's even getting double teamed already. I dig that nickname too, by the way, though I hope it doesn't bring that negative African "monkey" stereotype too much on Ike.

Mmm... 3 ast and 25 TO... Didn't know that's even possible. Guess Zarko and Taft played PG, considering that thy both recorded 6 TOs...

Yeah, I was about to say... People can get sensitive about that stuff if they take it also as a slur... so people got to watch what they say even if it's supposed to be a compliment on how powerful the guy is... I think the Warriors webpage staff or front office caught that already because they took down the picture of king kong and just put up Ike's picture, instead. I mean, it was a bit of a faux pas on Coach Turner's part because there was just a little bit too much emphasis on "king kong" references that didn't need a visual representation, if you know what I mean. But I guess it was supposed to be innocent. I'm mean it's obviously nothing like those Abercrombie T-shirts making fun of minorities in a very obvious, deliberate, disrepspectful way or those old Memin Pinguin cartoon characters from the 40's.
