Kobe at PG won't work. Just because he has the best handles of anyone on the team, he'd be exerting too much energy on defense, while hurting the teams offense. He'll be handling the ball enough anyway as it is.

Well this team will still be just like last year when you think about it. Caron is actually better then Kwame, and Chucky was better then DA in stats. So, I mean, the team is actually looking worse.

How can Caron be better than Kwame. They play different positions.

I dont care for comparisions at different positions. It just is too biased IMO. Its like comparing Apples to Oranges.

You forget the Lakers biggest off-season move, Phil Jackson. On paper, maybe the talent is the same, or worse, but the team managed to get bigger.

Adding Kwame Brown was important, because it allows Lamar Odom to play his natural position, SF. The Lakers now have three 7-footers on the roster, last year they only had one (Divac doesn't count).

So if you look at it in this perspective ...

    Odom > Butler
    Kwame > Grant

Now the Lakers just need to find an upgrade over Chucky Atkins, which shouldn't be very hard to do.

PG-Odom(mismatch for every point he faces, size, passing, rebounding and i think he has the ability to make teammates better)

SG- Kobe Bryant(do you really need a reason)

SF- Derek Anderson( if he comes, if he doesn't i guess JJ)

PF- Kwame Brown( i hope he produces and lives up to his potential, show the thing in washington was the team not him)

C-Chris Mihm(not to fond of him, but i would like to see Bynum split some PT)

PG - Sasha Vujacic or some FA?
    SG - Kobe Bryant
SF - Devean George or Luke Walton
    PF - Lamar Odom
    C - Chris Mihm

I haven't seen Vujacic play before but I'd assume they would have to go with him if they don't get a free agent, but they probably will.

I hope Mihm stays as starting center while Bynum develops over time. You have to appreciate Mihm's skill, he prooved himself worthy on Dec 25th. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but he did a extrememly good job on defending shaq and posting on him. Mihm is one of the few guys to do that.

I was just about to ask about Bynum. I hear he's tearing it up in summer league, we'll just have to see what he's going to do against the true competition.

What do you think his chances are of starting? Does Philly-boy not like rooks like LB?

Bynum didn't tear up summerleague. He put up decent numbers, perhaps even exceeding expectations (11 pp 7 rpg if i recall) ... However, I heard from a personal friend who watched a few of the games and he told me Bynum was clumsy, awkward, and often looked lost out on the floor. While he put up decent numbers, I hear he gave up much more on the other end. At any rate, he's a long way from having any sort of impact for the Lakers, let alone start.

As for the topic of this thread, right now the lineup is...

    Sasha (pending DA's signing)
    Kobe
    Odom
    Brown
    Mihm
