    Fiction.

Gordan Giricek averaged just 8.8PPG last season. The first time in his career he hasn't averaged over 10PPG. He had the competition of Raja Bell and Kirk Snyder last season. Bell and Snyder leaving should result in more minutes for Giricek, however that shouldn't be enough for him to get up to a consistent 18 point scorer.

Fact or Fiction? Utah will be at the bottom of the league in three point percentage in 05-06?

Fact: Jerry Sloan's offense is predicated on getting high percentage shots. No one with the exception of Giricek is a high percentage 3 point shooter so I don't think that they will be able to make enough threes a shoot a high percentage.

Fact or Fiction: Since the end of the 2003-2004 season Kevin O'Conner has done the worst job of any NBA General Manager.

    Recap:

    - Making Sasha Pavlovic eligible for the expansion draft instead of Mo' Williams. Sasha ended up being selected with no compensation given to Utah.
    - Underestimating the market value of Mo' Williams and deciding not to match the Bucks 2.5 million dollar offer.
    - Drafting Kirk Snyder with a roster full of guys who can play off guard/small forward (Raja Bell, Gordon Giricek, and Matt Harpring)--only to be so disenchanted with his performance that you trade him after one season.
    - Signing starting point guard Carlos Arroyo to a 4 year 16 million dollar contract, and trading him to Detroit for Elden Campbell (who never played) and a late draft pick.
    - Signing Carlos Boozer for 27 million dollars more than the Cavs were willing to spend for him: 6 years 68 million.
    - Signing Mehmet Okur, who fought to get into the regular rotation in Detroit, to a 50 million dollar contract: Two 2002 second round picks--accounting for 118 million dollars of guaranteed money.
    - Had over 20 million dollars in cap space and now will be in the luxury tax threshold with the maximum extension given to Kirilienko, contracts given to Boozer/Okur, Gordon Giricek contract that he signed in 2004, and Harpring's deal.
    - B/c of poor decisions the Jazz lost out on keeping Raja Bell--their most healthy and consistent performer the past two seasons.
    - Kept an open roster spot for Ben Handlogten.
    - Let Ostertag walk only b/c they didn't want to give him the full mid-level exception, only to give away Snyder and Borchardt and pick up the remaining years on that same mid-level exception that he signed for to play in Sac-Town.
    - Has only one first round draft pick and one second round draft pick, Kris Humphries and Jarron Collins, left on the roster from 2001-2004 w/ no relevant compensation to show for their departure--Raul Lopez is back in Spain, Curtis Borchardt is in Boston, Ryan Humphries was traded on draft night and is out the league, Jamal Sampson was traded on draft night and he is out the league, Sasha Pavlovic is in Cleveland, Mo Williams is in Milwaukee, Kirk Snyder is in New Orleans, and Pavel Podkolzine was traded on draft night to Dallas.

Good question. Kevin O'Connor has defintely made some bad moves since the end of the 2003 - 2004 season, as have been mentioned above.
Based on the first season of the lengthy contracts they got during the previous offseason, Memo Okur, Carlos Boozer and Andrei Kirilenko seem overpaid for various reasons. However, when they were all healthy at the start of 04 - 05, the Jazz were winning.
O'Connor recently signed Devin Brown for slightly above $5million over two years. Brown could be a consistent starter for the Jazz this season and the following.
When the Greg Ostertag trade was made, Kirk Snyder wanted out of Utah, Raul Lopez and Curtis Borchardt were often injured and didn't offer much when healthy. Ostertag will provide a shot blocking presence for Utah, which they missed last season. O'Connor traded up to draft Deron Williams, time will tell how good that move was, but Utah badly needed a Point Guard.

Fact or Fiction: Greg Ostertag plays for the Jazz in 2006 - 2007?

Fiction: Greg will sign for somewhere else.

Fact or Fiction: CJ Miles will spend most of the season in the NBDL?
