Warriors vs. Lakers Warriors Head Coach Mike Montgomery Warriors Starting Lineup PG: Baron Davis SG: Jason Richardson SF: Mike Dunleavy PF: Troy Murphy C: Adonal Foyle Warriors Key Bench Players Mickael Pietrus Projected Stats: 7 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assists Andris Biedrins Projected Stats: 2 points, 3 rebounds, 0 assists Warriors Keys To Winning<ul> [*]Foyle needs to have a big game like last game. He can block shots and his J was nice. If he can keep it up, we might see Chris Mihm getting Foyled. [*]Beat the press. Phil's new team likes to press and adapted to the Warriors style of play very quickly. Pass ahead to a guy that will go towards the hoop.
Warriors MVP Baron Davis Projected Stats: 18 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists Lakers Head Coach Phil Jackson Lakers Starting Lineup PG: Smush Parker SG: Kobe Bryant SF: Lamar Odom PF: Kwame Brown C: Chris Mihm Lakers Key Bench Player Devean George Prjected Stats: 5 points, 3 rebound, 1 assists Lakers Keys To Winning<ul> [*]Press the Warriors when Fisher is in. Fisher can't handle the press. He simply throws the ball away. When he comes in, look for Phil to set up their full-court press. [*]Big night from Odom. Odom can easily overpower Mike Dunleavy and can beat the Warriors midget small forwards.
Lakers MVP Kobe Bryant Projected Stats: 26 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists Prediction A close game all-around. The Lakers press will be hard on the Warriors and they will need to cope with it. The Lakers will play their bench more, but the Warriors will see other players from the starting lineup play more. 96 to 92 Warriors.
I don't think the W's really care if they lose, they just want to see who is going to step up in similar situations where there is no Baron, No Jrich, No Murphy, No Foyle. I mean Zarko, Dunleavy, Pietrus, Biedrins those guys look great when the tone is already set, but if they can't set it...
Warriors didn't care about the win. Apparently Phil Jackson did when he put Odom in. I mean, we had almost all rookies in basically the entire 4th quarter.
You'd think the NBA would show this stuff for free. Anyway my biggest game prediction is a sure thing:

In all serious, PJax put Odom back in the game because Luke Walton went out with the ankle sprain. He needed a player to initiate the offense from the forward position, and Odom was the choice by default. Odom is still uncomfortable in the Triangle, so the more PT he gets there the better. I don't think either team is concerned about winning in the preseason, they just want to build on the positives heading into the real season. I'm sure the win felt good for the Lakers, but no one should put much weight into the outcome of the game.

He is a former AF guy like myself. He introduced me to Foyle and Jrich. I know this is all in good fun, but I gotta stand up for him. BTW, you should send this to him with an explanation and make into a sig...
As always, a topic ain't the same without a knowledgable/fair Laker fan to at least shed light on the other point of view. We don't want it to be the Warriors only homer thread. Thanks, Shape. Besides, it's not like the game really matters, only the Hawaiians care because they don't get to see much nba action where they are. It would be cool if they had a team though. They could be the Hawaii Volcanoes. And their travel schedule would be hell!

Custodian happens to be filthy rich so he has one. The rest of us can only wish..
Looks like the Warriors bounced back nicely. Hey Custoidain, how 'bout that Dunleavy? 16 points in the first quarter including 4 three's on 6-6 shooting. I'm sure Barnett was going off. Anyway, here's the box score and recap: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=251013013 http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=251013013 If anyone listened to the game, I'd love to hear their take on it. From reading the recap it looks like Baron took over anytime the Lakers even thought about making a run. This season is going to be fun to watch.
Wow, Air Pietrus was pretty close. He projected Davis to have near a triple double and what happens, Davis just so happens to be flirting with that TD. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">If anyone listened to the game, I'd love to hear their take on it. But what I do remember is that Fisher was being very aggressive you can see that in box score with the FT attempts, but from the actual audio he sounded very active on the court. I was hearing his name on almost every possession while he was on the court. Zarko on the other hand was moving well and got some easy buckets according to what I heard, but at the same time made rookie like mistakes and got some quick fouls. But for the most part, the team in a whole sounded really well, guys were stepping in when the opposition go to the paint, deflections and at the end of the first half they forced 14 turnovers from what I remember. So the defense was there.
On gamenight, go to espn.com/nba and you then go to scoreboard and there should be a title somewhere around the game box indicating that you can listen to the game. When you click the Listen button I believe from the game box, a new window will pop up and then you choose the game you want to listen to...for free. It's only going to be free for the preseason though.

Roye and Barnett praised Dun Dun's defense. Pietrus played less wrecklessy. Foyle absolutely shut down Kwame. Barnett even made a point to say the Lakers frontline is "awful". JRich didn't play the 2nd half but got to the line. Murph had trouble with his shot. Fisher still didn't really get used to the press, probably because he's a 2 guard in a point's body. Biedrins played much better and got rebounds at crucial times. Montay struggled at first, he airballed a wide open layup. He got his composure back and made some big time plays. The w's just dominated the entire game. btw: JRich showed a nice crossover to Kobe which lead a basket + foul.
Boy, i'm really getting excited about the upcoming season! It's nice to see that Foyle is stepping up this preseason. Hope he can contain it in the season.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Avery:</div><div class="quote_post"> It's only going to be free for the preseason though.</div> Oh, ok. I was going to say they charged for it last year. I did not know it was free for the preseason. I just wish we could go back to the good old days of listening to the games for free on KNBR.com. I got sirius satelite radio now though so maybe I will try to tune in on that this season. It is a portable unit but I dont have the home docking station so I might have to sit in my car, listen to the game and do my homework...
