Good win, but on a sad note, Pietrus could be out for 6 weeks.

Awesome. Aren't they giving out Murphy Posters on Wednesday? hehe.

I wish I could go, I may try to go to one of the games in Decemeber, but it's good to be able to watch them of television for once. Tired of the lakers and clippers down here in socal.

Hopefully Zarko and Dunealavey step up their games, because without Pietrus the sf positiosn is pretty weak.

I've been reading that Pietrus will be out 2-6 weeks with his injury. Big blow to our bench unit, at least we have some versatility as we can play Fish at the 2 and Miles at 1, Cheany at 2/3, and Zarko can play some 3. Hopefully Dunleavy steps his game up.

Wow we won ugly, but it's still a win. I was very impressed by Troy Murphy. He played inside like a real big man that commanded double team respect in the post. I guess he took a page from Elton Brand the day after and from Tim Duncan. Troy was even giving Cliff Robinson a run for his money and he's one of the best post defenders in the league. I doubt we'll see Murphy in the low post that much since Nj was one of those teams you could do it on because they have no true center, but damn... Murphy did a great job being the bruiser down low. He had a nice inside and out game, was almost perfect from the line, and had two blocks. Two blocks?? What the heck is going on here? You have to love post players because it's a good source of close range buckets, touch fouls, and is another way to set up shooters with the outlet pass.

I feel bad for Pietrus getting injured, but I'm also glad we didn't have to deal with Vinsanity without Pietrus. Jkidd, RJ, and Krstic I thought we could have handled. Vince Carter was somebody that could have turned the game around singlehandedly for the Nets but luckily we didn't have to face him for more than two quarters since he also got injured. Cheaney, despite being turnover prone and not having any range, was serviceable as a backup.

Derek Fisher had a great game with 22 points off the bench and was attacking the basket. I like to see that part of his inside game improved, since he was pretty one dimensional looking and fans were getting tired of perimeter shot, perimeter shot, perimeter shot. He's got the strength to endure the contact which is why I don't mind him being that slow since he's pretty good handling the ball.

Jason Richardson was explosive from behind the arc tonight. Man I didn't mind him shooting the three ball since he was nailing 5 of 10 from downtown. Those clutch free throws of his was a good sign he's turning around his ability to convert at the free throw line when it matters.

Adonal Foyle was also big tonight. 13 rebounds! He would have had 4 blocks, but what do you expect from young referees. They can't tell who to give the benefit of the doubt. Foyle blocks shots cleanly.

    ------
    current bench:

    C: Biedrins/Taft
    PF: Zarko/Biedrins/Taft
    SF: Cheaney/Zarko
    SG: Derek Fisher/Cheaney
    PG: Aaron Miles/Fisher

I guess this bench lineup puts more strain on Jrich. Also, I'm not sure how great Aaron Miles can be if he can't shoot every once in a while to keep defenses from sagging off him. I'm hoping he shoots more like Chris Duhon does now. I guess we'll see if Jason Richardson's numbers go up because he has to do more to affect the defensive and offensive end.

First game of the year and it was nerve wracking. Too many 3s in the first half and I hate the bring ball up, one pass, shoot the 3. Awful. Thankfully that was at a bare minimum in 2nd half.

Murphy was definitely the player of the game. Rebounding in traffic, showing some post up game after facing up and a huge block on Kristic late, never saw that before.

Fisher hit huge shots all night long. Most of them were in rhythm and after getting feeds from others so that was nice. However he did take a couple of what I thought were bad shots. Without him though, W's lose.

Baron looked good going to the hole and setting others up.

Dunleavy hits two nice shots at the start then disappears. He's got to be more aggressive, especially now with Pietrus out.

Biedris just plays stupid right now. He goes too hard trying to block everything right now. And he tries to block shots by reaching down and low not going for the ball high which gives you more room and margin of error.

Nets found a nugget in Kristic. He's got a nice game and is not afraid. Kidd was either hurt or just passive letting McInnis run the show. W's did a nice job on Jefferson and got lucky with Vince hurt.

Wow, what an ugly game. I was shocked by Jason Kidd. He had almost no impact on the game. Sad to see him walking around on the court and not creating for his team. Jason Kidd is a shadow of his former self.

Nice we got the win but losing Pietrus is terrible. He is our only consistent bench player along with dFish. Who is gonna step up? We desperately need Pietrus' scoring and energy.

Anybody know when Diogu can start playing?

    Good reads, gentlemen.

Here's some quotes that you might like about Mike Dunleavy Jr and others.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"><font face="Arial"><font size="2">Mike Montgomery</font></font>
"I don’t know if shots that Derek Fisher, for example, got were any better than he normally ever gets. But he was making them. And of course Jason Richardson made a huge three at the end. The guys who shot them have been pretty good shooters. You get 43 percent from three (point range) and you’re in great shape."

"What I told the guys before the game is look, if the ball isn’t going down for you, maybe you dish it and make someone else better…That’s what everyone needs to think in terms of. Mike (Dunleavy) wasn’t very confident and he knew (Derek) Fisher was making shots. He dishes it and Fisher hit the shot. It was a rhythm situation."</div>

So Mike is always unconfident of his shot, but that extra passing comes in handy.

The W's played some great pressure defense on that last posession and they showed great effort despite having played the day before. So I can imagine our game would be a little bit ugly and plus we're playing against ourselves basically with the way the Nets play in a run n' gun small ball lineup.

Fish and Murphy dominated it. My dad put it nicely about Murphy

"He's the only white guy that is pretty fly that I know.."

lol. That was a good game, I'm glad to see Murphy and Fish step up. Murphy looked real good in the paint as well.
