<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Rick Adelman was fired as coach of the Sacramento Kings, an NBA official said Tuesday.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the move had not yet been announced, said Adelman will not receive a contract extension after leading the Kings to eight consecutive playoff appearances. Sacramento was eliminated from the playoffs on Friday by the San Antonio Spurs.

The Kings called a news conference for Tuesday, but wouldn't divulge the reason.</div>

I guess Artest won't be playing for free next season.

I wonder if the Don Nelson rumors are true as the replacement in Sac?

sac kings need to get some new players.. These rookies wont cut it, I dont think rick addleman should be blamed for all thats happend this season and should be renewed for one more season. The live press conference for the kings thing is on nbatv right now(5:20PM CST) or NBA.com video

My bet on a replacement would be Don Nelson.

Wow, firing one of the best choices in the NBA currently isn't very smart at all. I mean, he is just insane with what he can do with a team. Honestly, that was a stupid move by the Kings GM. Hopefully a team will pick him up.

Rick Adelman wasn't a bad coach..... King's loss is another team's gain.

    They better not be.

The Mavericks did not start playing defense untill Don Nelson left. And its pretty obvious that the Kings are trying to become a defensive team now.

That move would not make any sense.

They need to bring in Isaiah Thomas in with a blank check to straighten things out.. ... [IMG] [IMG]

Adelman was a walking dead man from day one of the season. The Maloufs clearly want a new direction/philosophy. I remember just a few years ago the Kings at home were just about the most feared team in the West. Maloufs prove once again that just being rich doesn't make you smart.

rick adelman was a great coach for sacramento. before him they were terrible and they have made it to the playoffs all these years in a row, so i believe he did a great job. but he just couldn't get them to the promise land, that is why i beleive the maloof brothers are letting him go.

I think the thread title should be changed because Adelman WASNT fired. His contract just wasnt extended. So its not as if his time coaching the team was cut short. Anyhow, Geoff Petrie also had some input on this and he shared the same feelings as the Maloofs. If its Petries viewpoint then I trust the decision, ohhhhhhmmmmmmmmm[IMG]

sorry im late to the dance guys.... i was stuck in Arizona for the past two weeks on business....

please keep in mind here, it wasnt JUST the maloofs that released adelman... he wasnt actually fired... they wanted to look elsewhere and he didnt want to come back anyway. thats called a mutual decision... not a firing. Granted, adelman didnt want to come back mostly due to the fiasco caused by the maloofs trying to grab phil jackson a couple years ago... so yeah... it was due to them making a bad mistake.

either way... bad for kings... to be honest I think that Van Gundy is the only person for the job that is currently available today.
