If I were the Vikings, I would say "bye, bye, Dante!" He doesn't deserve it, because of his injury. We don't know what kinda condition he's in.
Well, I am tempted to agree with you, except for the fact that they promised they would discuss restructuring the contract after the season was over. Granted, no one knew Daunte would get hurt, but it does not hurt to enter into renegotiations with an injury clause or some other escape like that...
Maybe they could restructure it where if Pep throws for 30+ TD's he gets his pay day or if he throws for this amount of yards get's some major $$$

Did Donte intentionally get injured? Didn't Donte get hurt while wearing a Vikings' uniform? I don't understand fans that are ready to dump players that have given them good service because they got hurt while trying to help their team. At the same time, there are a lot of fans that bellyache because athletes hold out for bigger contracts. Of course, they are going to hold out. They have to make hay while the sun is shining because the second that they're injured someone is waiting to put a bullet in them. Javon Walker sure learned his lesson the hard way, didn't he? It baffles me because I get the impression that avid football fans hate football players and don't want to see them doing well.
Here's the whole situation... Daunte has one of the worst contracts of All-Pro QB's in the league. This year, before he got a raise at the beginning of the season, he was guaranteed $2mil. Most of his $110 mil contract includes escalators and performance incentives - many of which will never be met. At the beginning of the season, Wilf agreed to pay an $8mil bonus to Culpepper in appreciation for his talent. This came with the caveat that they would 'readdress' the contract after the season was over. This was widely published an understood. Of course, Culpepper had a horrible season. He threw twice as many INTs as TDs and tore is leg up so badly that many question whether he will return (although doctors say he is ahead of schedule). Now he wants to take Wilf up on his 'promise' at the beginning of the season. Of course, the Vikings can't reasonably rework the contract given the past season - yet they still have an obligation to talk with Culpepper about his contract. As Ulysses Everett McGill would say, "We're in a tight spot!"

I just read an article that stated the Vikings want to trade him....gonna be a tough sell to get proper value with him coming off that injury and season....
Denny Green might take a shot at him. He's a risk taker and was the guy who drafted Daunte in Minnesota.

I personally think Daunte wants to play in Minnesota, but that he first wants the money that he thinks he is owed. That would explain the 'I want to play where I'm wanted' statement and his general coldness to the organization. I have no doubt that Daunte believes he will be back 100% by training camp, but he cannot expect others to believe that.
