    7 year, 49 million, and a 5.25 million $$$ guarnteed in cash..

Pretty much to get back at the Vikings.. I think they overpaid even with the guarnteed cash..

The Vikings also get the best of them

Hutch and a 3rd rounder for Burleson...

Vikings have no chance to match the offer from what's been reported. Seattle pulled a good ole karma move on the vikings..

We can change that - just PM me with what you want it changed to.

I gotta say, I'm pretty dissappointed with this. I really like Burly...but....

With an additional 3rd rounder, this gives the Vikes a 1st, two 2nds, and two 3rds. The ability to package together some picks and a player to move up are really tempting now. Jimmy K is pretty much expendible since the club seems to be committing to Wiggins and a fullback in Richardson, so don't be surprised if you see the Vikes move up by packaging him together with some picks.

I know some of the members here will get a kick out of this...

Seattle put two poison pills in the contract. Burleson's entire $49 mil contract (sound familiar - same as Hutch's) will be guaranteed if either:

    1. He plays more than a certain number of games in Minnesota in a single season (I beleive its 5)

    or

    2. His average salary exceeds that of the highest paid running back on the team (which for Seattle it won't with Alexander on the team)

They did this under the RFA rule, so it will be interesting to see if (a) Minnesota challenges it, and ([IMG] if they do what the ruling would be.

wouldnt it be great if they played MN in MN, got them again in playoffs and preseason, and 2 other teams had to move their home game to MN for various reasons(hurricane tornado, earthquake) and they had to pay full contract

    What goes around comes around.

Is troy Williamson ready to assume a starters role next year?

Pandora's Box is open now....Its funny that the Seahawks attacked Minnesota the same way they were attacked, but giving Burleson $49mil and surrendering a 3rd for him is a little much....both teams over paid to steal the others player, but atleast Minnesota got a draft pick....

I was thinking about that. They are just asking for some absolutely ridiculous set of circumstances to occur which will screw them.

I've been thinking about their poison pill, and I don't think the NFL should allow it. The Vikings poison pill clause assured that Hutchinson would be the highest paid player among his group of players. You can make a case for a team motivation for that if you claim that he is coming in as the leader and needs to have the cash behind the leadership (weak argument, but you can make it regardless)

The Seattle poison pills seem completely random to just stick it to the Vikings. I kind of hope that this goes to arbitration, but I kind of think the team is more interested in the 3rd rounder.

But...the arbitrator didnt rule on whether the "posion pill" clauses were allowed or not, he ruled that a team has to match the terms and conditions of a contract entirely and exactly, thats all....look for the competition committee to get busy on closing this loophole....I kind of like that restricted free agents can actually sign with another team now, and not get matched....as long as theres compensation going back, i have no problems with it....just think, none of this happens if the Seahawks werent trying to be cheap and use the transition tag when the franchise tag was the clear way to go....btw, the transition tag now goes the way of the drop kicked, to be used once every 50 years as a novelty....

Now after doing a little research, im changing my toon a little on this signing....apparently, the Seahawks and Burleson had discussed a 3yr/$15mill deal, but before signing it, they called the Viks to seek a trade....the Viks wanted a 2nd round pick and wouldnt come down off that trade....so the Seahawks rewrote the offer with the same terms in the 1st 3 years, but backloaded the deal to match the overall numbers in Hutcheson deal, plus added the poison pills....if thats the case, this isnt nearly as bas as I thought....Burelson on a 3 year deal for $15 million might be worth it, since they can tear up the deal at anytime and be on the hook for nothing....they dont care about the huge backload because they will never pay it, but if Minnesota matches, they have to pay it....

You gotta hand it to the Seahawks management on this one. They're getting a hometown boy and screwing the Vikings at the same time. Very funny!

Eh...I'm not too upset. I really like Burleson, but I'm happy for him that he's playing in his hometown. At the same time, Hutchinson and a low 3rd rounder for Burleson? I'll take that

Obviously Mike Holmgren didn't have Nate Burleson on his Fantasy Football team last year... [IMG]

Its not quite that easy....its really Hutchenson and the most money ever given to a guard and a 3rd rounder for Burleson and a medium contract....

True, but we are getting a player at a position that we needed desperate help, and unfortunately losing a player at a position that we have decent depth. So no, its not a complete wash, but I don't think the Vikings are getting screwed.
