<div class="quote_poster">custodianrules2 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">The only other part of the trade I wasn't enthused about was giving up a guy like Ike to include Harrington as part of the deal. I've seen Harrington and I don't think he does much to help the team when his offense is not on. All he did was just chuck and turn the ball over and ignore other players who can probably score at a more efficient clip. Plus, not sealing off Varajeao was crucial. We were dealing with a bad free throw shooting team and we let them get the putback.</div>

Oh stop it. Beggars can't be choosers and it was simply a bad shooting night for Harrington. He made a lot of things happen. Like I just said, I can't and will not fault Harrington for the loss. His energy was far more than we could ask for than Murphy and even Ike. Plus, he played pretty decent D.

He did box out Varajeao, but Varajeao got a good jump and Harrington got pushed directly under the basket.

Harrington went 4-21 shooting and had 12 rebounds. Jackson played good tonight and hopefully continues. We should have won this game if they refs didn't call that ravel on Monta when he didn't travel.

C'mon warriors play for the win! go for the three to Sarunas!</div>

Yup, we need guys who can get defensive rebounds. That is really key and makes the guards jobs much easier.

You gotta give the Cavs some credit. They are very good rebounding team. That's how you beat a team like the Warriors.

A lot of Harrington's shots were inside the key though. Refs weren't giving him the calls while the Cavs where getting every whistle blown. Wheres Too Short at to blow the whistle?! To me i think Barnes' minutes needs to be cut down. Everytime the ball is in his hands he tries to do things on his own like he's the franchise player. I can't wait til J-Rich comes back so Barnes can ride the pine

You don't understand, I really dislike Harrington compared to Murphy/Ike. You can ask guys like REREM about how adamant I was about passing on him to play power forward or small forward. He may have better games, but I think he's harmful to a team if his offense ain't rolling. He's detrimental. Even on Atlanta he wasn't that impressive except maybe on the stat sheet in terms of scoring. But you can beg to differ if you want. What I am happy about on this trade is we got Stephen Jackson who can be a headcase but I love his game and also Sarunas J who is a nice guard. Harrington is a worse version of Jamison and never really appreciated Jamison that much. So if we make Harrington a PF, I really don't like that matchup.

Anytime someone gets 4 shots on goal out of 21 attempts, stop shooting!

Beans had a rough game tonight and a less than spectacular rebounding night. He made a crucial defensive mistake by cheating too early to help out on the drive on Snow (?) on the baseline leaving Varajeao wide open under the basket. I believe that was a key play. Beans played like crap and he fouled out...unacceptable. [IMG]

I agree. Barnes is a streak player, meaning if his night isn't rolling, his night will pretty much be crap, like it was tonight. Pietrus is almost the same; I don't have too much confidence in either in a tight game like tonight's if their night isn't going too well.

J-Rich's HEALTHY comeback is going to be crucial.

I disagree. Most of his shot attempts were all inside the key...shots that should have gone in. Also, he got hammered and didn't get the call a lot of the times. It was just not his night. No Baron, no J-Rich, everyone but Stephen Jackson making a significant contribution...I can't fault Harrington for shooting that many shots.

Seriously, I like the trade overall, but dammit I don't like Harrington at PF! I got this thing against non-passing SF/PF tweeners that aren't like David Lee or at least Shareef Abdur Rahim back when he was worthy of one-time all-star status. And even if Harrington does pass it for an assist he's out there turning the ball over just as much. Arggg...

How about Sjax though? He's like a Mike Miller or Joe Johnson of sorts. A bit of point forward in his game. Sarunas was pretty decent as well. Smart aggressive vet that can shoot.

Yeah Barnes was horrible. Instead of riding the pine, he can go.

You're right about Harrington. He should be getting the ball to fall and getting some calls in time, but then he needs to show he's a better player, too. Then the refs start giving you the calls. Tonight they were calling it all for the Cavs and LeBron.

I see your point, but this is Nellie's system. Weren't you the one saying all along that Murphy + Dun don't play well together and obviously didn't play well under Nellie's sytem? Well now they're both gone! Harrington is an atheltic, RUNNING PF who fits well into Nellie's system. While he may not be your prototypical PF like Ike, he's a lot more versatile (from what I saw tonight) and is a proven player, unlike Ike.

If Ike becomes a better player than Harrington within the next three years, I'll eat my words with a gob of wasabi.

Yeah, I agree with CR2 about Harrington. I was hoping like hell that Mullin didn't sign Harrington to that 56 million dollar contract.

However I was happy with this trade because I thought he would be at least more effective than Murphy and Dunleavy. I thought of this trade more as a change of scenery trade.

Right now the team is playing too wild. I think SJax and Harrington still need more time in the system. They took a combined 49 shots and made 14. Not to mention 10 turnovers (6 by SJax and 4 by Harrington). Not all of them were good shots. SJax cooled off significantly in the fourth. I expect Harrington to play better though.

Anyone else get this feeling at halftime that the chemistry is better after the trade? When everything is clicking on this team we seem to be unstoppable. But when we can't shoot for our lives we're our own worst enemy. I have a feeling when Baron is back we're gonna make a push

To those complaining about Harrington not boxing out, for example: did Murphy ever box out? Moreover, did Murphy ever in his life get 6 offensive rebounds? Probably not, lol.

There was a lid on the bucket for Harrington tonight. But he did everything else Murph doesn't do. He had some very nice assists, he ran the floor extremely well, he started the fast break and brought it up himself, he scrapped inside and just didn't get any calls.

Last time I checked, Harrington was one of the top 3pt shooters in the league. He can shoot. He'll bounce back. Remember, if Murphy had a bad night, he'd take himself out of the game and ride the pine. His activity and athleticism were non-existent. He is worlds away from Harrington in this regard.

Harrington is a much better player than Murphy, and he'll bounce back.

P.S. It seemed that the Warriors' nice runs occured whenever Rooney checked into the game.

    Thank you.

I'd much rather be talking about Harrington's bad shooting night than Murphy riding the pine again because he SUCKS. Or, Ike riding the pine just because. Nellie had faith in Harrington and that's why he was on the floor. He put up numbers, just not beneficial ones (except the rebounding). But, he made an impact on the game by being in every play. He wasn't the invisible player that Murphy, Dun, and Ike have been (Ike being invisible because he rode the pine).

Well Harrington and Murphy is considered a wash of some sorts because you lose one thing and gain another, but you have similar liabilities when paired next to let's say somebody like Biedrins at C. I think Ike would be a better supporting cast player for Biedrins and whoever our small forward would be. I'm not complaining, but I hate it when we get smaller and the guy we traded for has just reverted to Matt Barnes/Derek Fisher mode.

Plus, I don't agree Harrington is a PF. He's not even a SF either. He's like a Zarko, a guy with no true position. I'd rather have him off the bench than manning a starting PF position, but I guess... who the heck are we going to got to for that role? We got Barnes, Pietrus, and some guy named Renaldo Major and that 4th Indiana guy. Groan... If we added Antoine Walker that would take the cake. LOL.

Well, Harrington is a much better player than Murphy in Nellie ball. I agree his shooting will improve, but he's got to get the defensive rebounding numbers up if he's gonna be the starting PF.

It's only one game, so will reserve judgment, but he's an improvement over what we had before.

As for Barnes, I can't believe his box line looks the way it does. I thought he shot the ball more and fumbled more plays!!!

I don't think Harrington's shots fall into the category of Derek Fisher shots; I don't even think Barnes' shots fall into that category -- thank god D-Fish is no longer with us!

I agree Harrington isn't a prototypical PF, but that's probably the best position for him to play in Nellie's system. I'm anxious to see how he does going forward.
