BTW, we drafted Jermareo Davison. Guess Byars really didn't do well in the workout...

hill is a perfect fit...i can't believe they passed on him with their 1st 2nd-rounder

Davidson....decent pick at 46...at 36 hardly a great move but we could get lucky if ever he learns to play tough in close..mostly a 6-11 who's yet to use his length well.....some rebounding but too little of it to change anything because he's got too many holes to play enough. McGuire was still available....yawn...this is getting pretty bleak. Chances of #46 being worth discussion....about 1 in 4.

Yeah...built like Jax,skinny and not much on the boards. He needs a couple years to beef up to PF size...will get bulldozed until then. Oh crap.....the deal is official and we even gave #36......welcome back to the lottery.

Wright has nice open court speed but is not real quick. His forte was slashing through gaps when teams doubled Hansborough. Unlike Harrington-he does finish the uncontested stuff very well. Like Harrington he does not rebound as well as most PF's,which will be more of an issue now since J Rich was a great rebounding G. Quite a sweet deal for the Bobs....even punked us for a rd 2,and they got Dudley dirt cheap at 22.

Wright has a lot of wingspan but was not a top 25 shotblocker.

If we get Hill or Lasme its a little consolation. Hill is the only hope left......WOOOHOO we got Lasme!

Too bad we suckered out-lost #36 (Hill) Lasme is sort of D Rodman intense (just not insane) when it comes to D and boards. ESPN said 6-7 but he's otherwise called 6-8 in shoes. Lasme might hustle himself a spot in the rotation-but I guess Mully-Nellie both were for these guys and so maybe Nellie will actually play Belinelli/Wright? [IMG]

I guess the J Rich deal saves a spot for Barnes. If Cheap is the priority,Pietrus is out...maybe Powell too?

A notable point about Lasme....he out rebounded Wright...by a LOT. He had a remarkable 4 triple doubles with 10+ blocks.

As usual we trade off our established guy and spin the wheel. I'm frustrated enough that us getting the right guy at 46 only makes me think we don't even sign him.

I sure hope we get lucky on Wright-B-Nellie....we sure missed a bunch of great opportunities.

I liek the pick a lot. I got to see him play and the guy is an INSANE shotblocker. Great athlete with amazing timing, very long. Unlike Sean Williams he knows when to go up to block a shot and when to stay in rebounding position (9.5 rpg) instead of jumping at everything. I love the pick as a guy who can run with the W's and give us defense and rebounding, all he needs is an 18 footer and hes perfect for us. As of now he has no offensive game. He could be a great hustle, scrappy undersized guy or he could be out of the league before the season starts.

I'm pissed that we had to move Jermareo Davidson but its worth it for B Wright IMO.

I really liked Jason Richardson and all, but I'm happy that we got a young player as well. It was his time to go so we had to do what we thought was best. We got a young stud and a big man in Wright. Good bye J_Rich and good welcome Wright. I'm going to miss J_Rich.

Here's Chad Ford's grade of the Warriors. They were only 1 of 5 teams to get an A or A+.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Golden State Warriors Grade: A
Round 1: Brandan Wright (8), Marco Belinelli (18)

    Round 2: Stephane Lasme (46)

Analysis: I think the Warriors made several excellent moves here. In exchange for Jason Richardson, they got a player with great upside in Wright, who will be at home in Golden State's up-tempo style. He also fits a need in the frontcourt.

Belinelli also will thrive with Golden State. He loves to let it fly and Nellie will let him.

But the biggest addition might have been one of subtraction. By sending Jason Richardson packing, the team created a whopping $10 million trade exception it can use to lure a free agent via sign-and-trade or to help with a trade in the next year.

Is this from ESPN Insider? You have to pay just to read that, right? Sounds like a waste of money...haha but thanks for sharing AlleyOop.

I pay for insider because you get all the articles and features. Sometimes they're good, sometimes not. What Ford wrote here is what everyone else has been writing on JBBall, lol. But he graded every team, so he didn't have time to write a whole page for each team.

The Warriors just stole a future All Star from the Bobcats. Brandan Wright will take some time to develop some offensive skills and bulk up, but with his freaky ass wingspan and athleticism he is going to be a beast for you guys. He'll be a 20/10 lock for years to come. Putting him alongside Baron Davis and Ellis is going to be great to watch.

You know I have been thinking about Wright's weight and a few successful skinny kids come to mind...

Prince, Bosh, AK47, Garnett, Beans etc. I think Wright will be our starting PF by year's end. Nellie is not afraid of playing the young guys...

Yeah, I don't think his weight is that big of an issue. Mind you the guy is only 19 and hes not one of these freaks like Oden and LeBron. It'll take him a few more ytears to fill out, he'll probably only get to around 220-230 but thats Biedrins, Bosh, Camby range and in our system we need a gazelle like him anyway.

Also, you have to consider the way he plays. Hes 200 lbs but plays like a 260 pounder. He plays down low, on the block, in the paint, and he doesn't get pushed around playing in the top conference in the nation. On the other hand guys like Yi are 250 pounds playing like a 190 pound SG and don't want to bang around even in the China pro league.

Yep, I'm not worried about his weight at all. The way Nellie is, I wouldn't be surprised if Nellie wants Wright to lose a few more pounds at camp lol [IMG]

Yeah you should (or must have) listen to Chris Mullin's interview on KNBR with Murph and Mac. They were talking about how Don Nelson will play to the strengths of his players. As Mullin said, Nelson's not going to make Wright "wrestle" in the paint if that's not one of his strengths. Weight is not very important for most players. I remember listening to the ESPN people knock another prospect who was a SF (I think) about not being able to bench 180 lbs more than 2 times. But a basketball weighs far less than 180 lbs and the basketball is the only thing you use your arms with in the game of basketball. So I didn't see that as being a huge knock unless if his game was mainly a post, back-to-the-basket game. I don't know much about Wright, but if his game in the NCAA was physical and if he has to go up against someone like Boozer every night on defense, then not having a whole lot of strength could wear him down, as far as I could imagine since I have not actually done this myself. Mullin said that Don Nelson liked Wright before the draft, though he doubted Mullin could get him. Nelson must have seen something in him that is good that he wants to add to this team.

My biggest questions now are about last year's draft picks. What's up with Patrick O'Bryant and Kosta Perovic?

So he averaged 12 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, .8 blocks in 22 minutes. Well it looks like he can stay at least one more year in Europe and nobody will be very mad, except that I think I heard he may be signing a new and bigger contract in Europe soon. I wonder if he'll come down to play in the summer league.
