In Chad Ford's latest blog... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">There is still a lot of talk about the Hawks' trading No. 11 if Conley isn't on the board. While we've heard Jarrett Jack in the past, it appears the Hawks have their eye on Seattle's Luke Ridnour.</div> Link Luke and our two second rounders for the 11 and salary filler (Tyronn Lue, Solomon Jones, Salim Stoudamire) works. Only problem is there would be no way to replace him with the pick. Which is the reason why the Hawks want to trade the pick in the first place. Acie Law and Javaris Crittenton are scoring points, which wouldn't fit with any combo of Ray, Rashard, and Durant. Conley will be gone. Still, I'm all for it. I have obviously dropped completely off the Luke bangwagon.
I saw this too. Who do you think the sonics would take if this did go through? You think the combo of earl/mike wilks would work for us? me personally I'd rather keep luke and deal earl. I still have some faith in the guy
I'd like to see them get Nick Young, but they'd probably be choosing from the remaining small forwards to protect themselves in case Rashard leaves. So maybe Al Thornton, Julian Wright, or Thaddeus Young.
How amazing would it be to come out of this draft with Durant and Corey Brewer? One can only daydream about the turnaround we would undertake.
Kevin Durant and Corey Brewer playing alongside Ray Allen, would make for a helluva team in a couple years.
<div class="quote_poster">Casual Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Earl Watson isn't better than Luke Ridnour, but he's not worse, either.</div> Earl Watson is better than Luke Ridnour and Mike Wilks is better than Luke Ridnour too. I have never really felt that Luke Ridnour is a starter in the NBA and although I think that both Earl and Mike Wilks are not starters either I would rather have them on my team than Ridnour. Ridnour only excels when he feels that he has the full support of his coaching staff. Whenever he feels threatened he goes in the tank.
I'm a big supporter of Mike Wilks. Ridnour does have potential to be good, but that's what we've been leaning on for the past 3-4 years...potential. Watson goes out and plays hard each night. Wilks showed what he can do the tail end of last season. Sure it was the last 5-6 games but he nearly had a triple double in one of those games. We need a guy like Wilks around when Durant comes in. I think he can help on the floor with Ray, Durant and Lew around because Mike isn't one of those guys to look for his own shot first and can penetrate thanks to his quickness. He hustle's on defense too.
We need to do this trade. Ridnour made one of my all time favorite plays against the Kings in the playoffs when he tipped a loose ball to behind the back to a left handed no look flip pass to Rashard (Calabero: 'Luke what did you just do! What did you do!'), but it's obvious we can't run our stuff on offense since he can't go by anybody or finish at the rim and on defense he'll always be a liability just about every night. Except for maybe the games where he's matched up against Dickau
Would Watson/Wilks and the BPA at 11 (or even Acie Law) be any less than still having Luke/Earl at the point?
Chad Ford's saying it's Rodney Stuckey if the trade happens <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">• As I wrote in the >blog on Tuesday, that's not the only trade the Hawks are considering. On Tuesday I wrote that the Hawks were pursuing Luke Ridnour and willing to give up the No. 11 pick to make it happen. If the Hawks can't land Stoudemire, this seems like the most plausible trade scenario for Atlanta. It would end the Hawks' drought at the point guard position and free them up to take Al Horford or Yi Jianlian (yes, he's still in the picture) at No. 3. If the Sonics get No. 11, sources say they will likely select Eastern Washington combo guard Rodney Stuckey with the pick. </div>
In all honesty, if 11 is on the table like Ford seems to suggest, surely we'd have bitten their hand off by now? I guess it's probably dependant on other deals at this stage. In a funny sort of way we'd have made a profit on a player (by three spots) that probably isn't going to get much better than he is now, than at all. Bringing in Durant and an exciting local product would certainly be a great draft day.
The deal won't happen until the draft. I'm getting worried, though. What if Billy Knight is on the internet and reading about how stupid he is?
Andy Katz just reported the deal is off. Too bad. EDIT: If you were wondering, the pick is probably going to Minnesota along with the #3 in a trade involving KG and Amare. I imagine if that deal falls through there's a chance the Ridnour for #11 could be resurrected but I wouldn't hold my breath.
" 31. Taurean Green Point Guard. Florida " I really hope this isn't our backup plan as suggested by RealGM. I am a huge UF fan and have seen him play quite a bit. Please no, not at this level.
Apparently the Garnett deal isn't "Imminent" <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">PHOENIX (AP) -- Reports the Phoenix Suns were nearing a deal to acquire Kevin Garnett were downplayed Wednesday by an NBA official with knowledge of the situation. Contrary to several reports, the official told The Associated Press, the sides were not close to a three-team deal that would send Amare Stoudemire to Atlanta and Garnett from Minnesota to Phoenix. </div> Source
I still expect it to happen. It's the best possible trade involving KG at this point. Minnesota has to get it done.
Apparently one of the Hawks owners vetoed the Staudemire deal: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2919016 So that's out, meaning the Ridnour deal might resurface. (!!)
