I don't think he's as athletic as Pippen, though. I didn't know he was a good defender. Maybe after watching the Sonics the past several years I can't recognize one anymore

I compared Jeff Green more so to Pippen, because they can both impact a game from either end of the court. Diaw impacts a game from the offensive end, but doesn't give you much on defense. Yes Green is a very good defender. Granted the Hoyas played a lot of zone defense with Hibbert anchoring the middle, but Green was responsible for guarding the opposing teams best wing players when GTown needed a stop or went man to man defense.
Green isn't a lock down defender, and more like Odom than Diaw or Pippen in my estimation. He can bring the ball up and pass well within an offense but he's not really a point forward.

You guys have a pretty decent team now: C - Robert Swift | Saer Sene | Johan Petro PF - Chris Wilcox | Nick Collison | Danny Fortson SF - Kevin Durant | Wally Szerbiak SG - Jeff Green | Mickael Gelabale PG - Luke Ridnour | Delonte West | Earl Watson
It's more like C - Robert Swift | Nick Collison | Johan Petro | Saer Sene PF - Kevin Durant | Chris Wilcox SF - Jeff Green | Damien Wilkins SG - Wally Szczerbiak | Delonte West | Mikael Gelabale PG - Luke Ridnour | Earl Watson
Presti has to have some other moves in mind, I don't see how the current roster would be effective at all to be honest. I'm not even as excited about the Durant addition with Ray leaving, this team is starting to look like Atlanta.
I got ahold of that photo and decided to have a play around with it, just came up with this piece of crap: Hahahahaha.

Looks like this forum needs a new banner. Any opinions on Ray Allen traded and Seattle's plan to try and re-sign Rashard Lewis?

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">PG - Luke Ridnour | Earl Watson</div> That looks kind of familiar. Where have I seen that before? Again, just repeating what's being said, there are more moves on the horizon. Either Shard comes back and we move some of the above pieces or we package some guys with Shard to fulfill our needs.
Agreed I'm just wondering what kind of scenarios are out there for guard help. We need both a starting SG and PG.

After all the injuries and surgeries he's had, he basically has no quickness left at all. He would be eaten up by smaller, quicker players on both ends of the court. If anything, he'll start off the year at the 3, but probably lose his spot to Green and become a bench player by the end of the season. Like Nick said, I'd also be tempted to play Delonte at the point, but if you don't pickup a suitable starter at SG, than he'll probably stay there. That's what he played for a good portion of last year for us after Rajon Rondo started getting comfortable playing NBA ball. Not only is he a much better defensive player than Wally, but he's also more versatile offensively, and I think a much better compliment to Durant.
I'm a little late coming in but needless to say the Sam Presti era is much different and much more confusing than that of his predescessor. Everyone knows how I feel about Ray Allen. I can't stand his personality and his character and I think that his playing ability is overrated. I have always wanted to see what his trade value was and have always wanted our management to field offers for him. But at the end of the day I would like to think that a consistent 24+ per game scorer would be worth more than one rotation player, one overpriced veteran, and a mid lottery pick -- especially when none of those players are capable of playing the position that was vacated by Ray's departure. I like Jeff Green a lot and I think that he will be a very good NBA player. He is versatile, tough, and has some winning qualities. I think that he can fit into any team but I'm just wondering why we were so enamored with him when the position that he plays is the only position that we are completely solid in. Presti may have some more tricks up his sleeve but if we do not resign Sweet Lew or at least get great value for him in a sign and trade I think that we are going to just be mediocre with younger players.
Calabero said pretty much what everybody knew but probably didn't say out of respect for Ray: Presti is trying to establish a new identity for this team based on accountability on defense and ball movement on offense. Clearly, it would require a paradigm shift in Ray's game.
Shiek, he's a proven scorer, but realistically, he's 32, has missed games through injury every year, is notorious for a lack of defense and is on a mammoth contract. I think to get a guy like Delonte and a top five pick in a very strong draft is about as well as we could have done at this stage of Ray's career.
