BelliNellie is going to a bench warmer. He's going to be a dumber, softer Brent Barry.

Not like anyone else was left so what can you do?

Appears to shoot well over 50% from the field, very nice, and 75% from the FT line, which is not terrible and certainly better than JRich or Pietrus or most anyone else he'd replace on the Warriors. Of course it's likely his shooting % will be lower against NBA competition. Well, who knows, should have guessed they'd go with something crazy. Guess I'm just glad it's not McMurphy.

    Wtzel's analysis:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">18. GS - Marco Belinelli, SG: Golden State took Italian shooting guard Marco Belinelli, who has a tremendous name and supposedly the game to fit in with the Warriors' up-tempo style. As an added boost, his entourage here was not overloaded with slimy-suited agents, but some extremely talented Italian women, so he wins the draft on that account. Which is nice.</div>Haha, we'll get our own Eva Longoria, or two.

Well, he will fit right in with us, since he seems to shoot 5.7 2 pts and 7 3 pts. And, he shot 33% from 3 pts last year, which isn't exactly Allen-like. But, we will see. Hope he is more like Barry than Welsch...

Edit: In previous years, he shot above 40% from 3 pts...

I've said it repeatedly and I'll say it again....I really really hope we grab Herbert Hill with the next pick. I really think he's gonna be another second round steal

What a jip, Bellynelly. Still can't believe we drafted a 195 pound kid that's name is literally translated to Don Nelson's liquor filled stomach.

Morris Almond would have been a better pick.

What happened to J. Smith and Cook? And, who bought Suns pick?

Agree, either him or Jamareo Davidson would be awesome.

Am I the only one to suspect that getting Marko means the Warriors have a trade in mind? If they had a trade in mind with Jrich + for a big man, it'd make perfect sense to draft another guard who fits Nellie's system perfect...

Dang, wonder if we could have bought Suns pick. How many years did they sell the pick?

    I agree.

I hope it's like AO's suggestion where we're trading a guard to land the draft rights to somebody else that can play power forward in Nelly's system.

Yeah, good one on that. I really like the Italian kid's shooting game, but I'm skeptical of what else he can do until I really see him in nba action. I really wanted a safer college tested player, but I think Belinelli's upside is a good gamble at #18. He's played against nba players before and he might do some things that will surprise. I just hope he can do something else when that shot isn't falling. He seems a lot quicker than Morris Almond.

We got our big man so all is good.
