This has not been confirmed by anybody I know but just thought I'd throw out the scuttlebutt. Keep in mind, though, that assistant GM Scott Perry was hired from Detroit, and the Pistons just drafted Rodney Stuckey and Arron Afflalo. </div> Source We would probably ship out Wilcox and Earl Watson. Rip would be good with the young guns.
Personally I have had enough with UConn shooting guards. If I was looking to trade for a shooting guard it would be Corey Maggette. He does not demand the ball, plays both ends, and it relatively inexpensive--plus he is very good at drawing fouls, something we haven't had in decades. I'm not even a big fan of his but he seems to fit the "culture" that Presti is trying to establish plus he seems to be available (even though his name has been on the blocks for the past eight years). Earl Watson and Johan Petro should be enough to lure him from Clipperland.
This would be stupid on our part, giving up one of our starters for 2 backups. We could surely get more value for Rip. I would at least want Jeff Green or Delonte West in return.

Also Corey does demand the ball a decent amount, he's not that useful an offensive player off the ball. His defense also isn't impressive, so I don't know if I'd really say he plays both ends. He's good for his price though, but I don't know if you'd want to play him at SG.

1270am is not the Pistons flagship station. If they make a huge trade like this 1130am would have all the information. Just an FYI
I can sort of see the logic on Detroit's side - apparently they are looking to trade Rasheed, and Wilcox could be a replacement there, with Watson a replacement for Hunter retiring, plus freeing up minutes for Stuckey. But it's still a fair stretch, given Rip is still very much in his prime as a scorer. As for Maggette, I see him as a natural three without a reliable outside J, so not sure what he'd add to the roster given the pieces we have. I'd want a pure shooting guard, not another combo guard/forward.
The only way i'd see the Pistons doing this is if Billups signs somewhere else. Because that would give them the most reason to "blow up" as Casual said.
I'd rather have Magette but I've heard he demands the ball and minutes - nothing necessarily wrong with that and maybe some of that will rub off on Green.
