Who do you guys want to be the Sonics Depth Chart to start the season, and who to finish it? I personally don't think this team is best put together to be a traditional 1 through 5 position team, and therefore won't even set it up that way. Starters: PG: Luke Ridnour (or Delonte West, depending what position he plays) Wing: Delonte West Wing/Bigs: Kevin Durant, Jeff Green Big: One of the Centers, none impress enough yet to be a clear favorite. I dono if this'll be day 1, but I like it. I think this team is a Center and experience away from contention. And after that more experience and a slightly better PG away from a championship.
I'd be shocked if the roster stays the same - right now there is a huge gap at shooting guard (I'm in the Wally is strictly a small forward at both ends camp). As it stands, and not doubling up positions which will obviously happen: Delonte (Ridnour, Watson) ? (Wilkins, Gelabale) Durant (Green, Wally) Wilcox (Collison) Swift (Petro, Sene) The proposed Rip trade would be unreal, and a guy like MoPete would also be very handy.

PG - Delonte West / Carlos Arroyo / Earl Watson / Ridnour SG - Damien Wilkins / Hedo Turkoglu / Gelabale SF - Kevin Durant / Jeff Green / Wally's World PF - Chris Wilcox / Nick Collison Ce - Johan Petro / Robert Swift / Sene
<div class="quote_poster">dotmotion Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">^who are the sonics trading...</div> It would be a sign and trade deal for Rashard. I'm not sure about Damien Wilkins being a starting 2 guard. He did average something like 14pts a game while Ray was out, but I still have my doubts about him. He has produced when given the opportunity though.
I've heard a lot of people say they should have drafted a guard instead of another forward at #5, but does anyone think that any of the guards available (Stuckey, Law IV, N. Young) were really starter material? Maybe I would have taken Yi or Brewer over Green, but still, it was a forwards draft, so you can't really fault them for not taking a guard. Who are they looking at in free agency? Maybe that's where they can get their two-guard. Devean George, James Posey, Charlie Bell, and DeShawn Stevenson could probably all be had with the MLE. Who knows, maybe you guys could even bring back Sir Desmond with a MLE offer.
This is the best case scenario for the Sonics next season: Luke Ridnour/Delonte West/Mike Wilks Sasha Pavlovic/Delonte West/Mickael Gelebale Kevin Durant/Jeff Green/Wally Szczerbiak Chris Wilcox/Nick Collison Robert Swift/Johan Petro/Saer Sene Seattle trades Earl Watson and a 2009 second round draft pick to Cleveland for Sasha Pavlovic. Sasha is a restricted free agent and since LeBron's contract extension kicks in and they are trying to save money to keep Varajao I would imagine they would be willing to depart with Sasha in order to help their point guard situation. Damien Wilkins could be dealt for a second round draft pick and cash to save money. We have too many small forwards anyway. That being said this team still stinks.
Indeed. However, as Presti said there are no shortcuts. Players we need to jettison ASAP: Ridnour Wilkins Watson Petro (well maybe not ASAP but there really is no point in keeping 3 young 7 footers)
I think that West is better served playing the Antonio Daniels role of playing all of the reserve guard minutes. Bennett would not want to pay 19.5 million dollars to someone who wouldn't have trade value. Ultimately I think that West will play more minutes than Luke but b/c Luke has proven that he can not be counted on in a reserve role he will be placated to increase his trade value.
Supposedly the rumor around Orlando is that the sign and trade would be.... Seattle receives: JJ Redick(2 mil with team option after this year) Pat Garrity(3.8 mil expiring) Carlos Arroyo(4 mil expiring) Keyon Dooling(3.6 mil expiring) Next years 1st, likely unprotected Approximately 4-5 mil Trade Exception(could be used towards getting Rip Hamilton) We could also possibly give you the $3-4 mil that would take to buyout Garrity's contract. I heard that too. for Rashard Lewis(estimated around 13 mil) Earl Watson(5.8 mil)
can't wait for next years draft hopefully we can get beasley or rose mayo suckssss thats trade looks good though
Brady Anderson hit 50 home runs 1996. What's your point? You probably won't understand that reference, but I'm too lazy to think of another one.

Ridnour/Watson Delonte/Gelabale Durant/Wally Wilcox/Collison Swift/Petro There's way too many wing players on this roster and not enough big men. I'd be good if the Sonics could trade Wally to the Blazers for Lafrentz. Portland would get a decent SF to fill their only weakness and Lafrentz could be the starting Center for the Sonics.
