If only ED Snider cared about the Sixers even SLIGHTLY as much as he does the Flyers. I sware we would have A: A better coach B: A better GM C: We would actually be winning. After winning the 2nd overall pick in the NHL draft and being humilated, what does Snider and CO do? Rebulid the team into a contender in under a couple of months. After being in the Oden Race for a couple of months and potentially being able to rebulid the team from the Iverson era, what do we do? We trade for Andre Miller, win several meaningless games and we're still lacking that #1 option that we need so badly. Might we find it in Thaddeus Young? With time, maybe, but for now, there's no way in hell will I put that pressure/expectations on Young. I thought Rodney Carney would be decent, he was FAR from Iguodala's rookie season. So to hell with giving Young any expectations. Except to be superior to Carney. That much, he can accomplish. Don't get me wrong, King's done a good job so far with the 4 draft picks and if he can gather in a trade or two to fill in other positions or go after that potential #1 option, then yes, he did everything in his power to turn us around, and I'd apperciate it. But for now, jury's still out on this off-season. This IS a Flyers Thread, but I also wanted to use the opening post to BASH on Ed Snider for his obvious love towards the Flyers, and not so much so for the team that plays in the same buliding and for the same city.

It's obvious Ed Snider doesn't care much for the Sixers. That's why we were all pushing for someone else to buy the team. If I remember correctly, he was intent on selling the team a couple of years ago, but then backed out for some reason. The possible suitors included Will Smith and Dr. J

Snider has always been a hockey guy, but you have to respect what the Flyers have done. The big difference between the Flyers and the Sixers as of recently is first, the Flyers have a strong winning tradition (even though they haven't won a championship in around 30 years). People want to come here because they know that the Flyers are going to put the best team out there every year to try and win the trophy. Second, the Flyers have cap room and they are not afraid to spend it. The Sixers cap situation has been managed poorly ever since our championship run.

Snider is a hockey guy, but can you really blame him? When he wants somebody, he has the power and the money to go out and get him (take Daniel Briere for example). With the Sixers (at least for another year) he's limited to making trades to improve the team, and Billy King simply can't trade players.

Also, the Flyers have no consideration for the future. They'll trade prized prospects for a slow, 34-year old, 6'6" defender who can hit. Part of me wants to be thankful that Snider isn't playing a bigger part in the basketball team because Iguodala would probably be gone along with all of our first-round picks to just field an average playoff team every year. It would be nice to see some different owners in there, just for a change because the Sixers haven't won a championship in 25 years now.
