<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (liljuzam)</div><div class='quotemain'><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (cubuffsman78)</div><div class='quotemain'>You can have your stats....That can be the only way they compare. Brady carried his team to the playoffs last season. Hasselbeck has had the benefit of one of the best running games in the NFL. New England was decimated in the running game and significantly on defense last year. I don't care how close their stats are. Hasselbeck is no Tom Brady.</div> I'm not arguing that Hasselbeck is Tom Brady. I'm arguing that Brady's one of the top 2 QBs in the NFL and that Hasselbeck is in a group a step below that. If Matt's coasting on the running game how did Seattle beat Washington in the second round or the playoffs last year when Alexander got hurt in the first quarter? If Tom Brady is God's gift to the NFL why couldn't he overcome the poor running game and defense that New England had last year? I'll tell you why. Both guys need the other 52 men on their team to play well to get it done. In 2003 and 2004 the Pats Defense ranked 7th and 9th respectively while Seattle ranked 19th and 26th. With a great QB and a solid defense New England won back to back Superbowls while Seattle couldn't get out of the first round of the playoffs. Then last year the Pats defense slipped down to 26th and even though Brady had a great year again (maybe his best?) they lost in the second round. Meanwhile the Hawks defense improved to 16th and they went to the Superbowl. A Superbowl, btw, in which Hasselbeck played a good game but didn't get enough help from the other 52 guys and Seattle lost. I guess you don't like stats because you can use facts to prove anything that?s even remotely true.</div> I don't like stats in this situation. Sometimes the stats don't lie...sometimes they do. The fact that football is a team game has nothing to do with the situation of if Branch is worth a 1st round pick. That's what this topic is about and that's why I said Hasselbeck doesn't compare to Brady. Brady still carried his team last year. I'm not saying Hasselbeck is a terrible QB, but I don't put him on a level with Brady at all just like you aren't. I was making the point that Brady made Branch look better than he is. I think Brady is one of the few QBs in the history of the NFL that makes WRs look better than they are. I think that Roger Staubach was another one of those QBs. As was Brett Favre in his prime and probably even John Elway. Those types of QBs are the rarest in my opinion. Hasselbeck isn't that type of QB to me and that's why I think Branch will be a bust in Seattle. Branch has never had a 1000 yard season...yeah I know he was 2 yards short last year and he played in an offense that spread the ball around, but I don't view him as the type of game breaker that a team should give a 1st round pick up for. I think it's absolutely a terrible trade on the part of the 'Hawks. New England showed again why they're probably the best organization in the NFL. They get the best out of everything they do.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (cubuffsman78)</div><div class='quotemain'>New England showed again why they're probably the best organization in the NFL. They get the best out of everything they do.</div> I take back what I said before. Next time we do a mock draft I'll even let you pick for Dallas.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Bears#1Fan)</div><div class='quotemain'>i will just say 1 statement here Darrell Jackson Nate Burelson Bobby Engram Deion Branch Jeremy Stevens - when he comes back tell me 1 secondary in the nfl that is equipped to cover all those guys at 1 time and be able to stop alexander aswell name 1 defense.. I think chicago has the best D in the NFL but Not sure if they could do it either</div> Stop 4 receivers, 1 tight end, and 1 running back at the same time? The defense wouldn't have to cover very long with a 4-man OL. J/K

Alexander had only 51 yards on 19 carries with no room to run and Hasselbeck was sacked 5 times while having little or no time to throw. Many teams we played last year said that we had the most imposing D-line that they had played and with common games against the Vikes, Bears, Bucs and Panthers that is a pretty nice compliment...

It wasn't scheme or missed assignements, the Lions front 7 just physically dominated the game and at times made the Hawks O-line look foolish. It wasn't just the line either. On one running play Mac Strong got pushed back into Alexander.
Deion Branch is worth a 1st round pick atleast to seattle who should have picked somewhere between slot 28-32 the kind of value you would see at that time isn't going to compare to what your getting from Branch.. and if they do it would be a few years.. Branch is a guy who can come in and play right away.. D.Jack has knee problems, engram is getting older.. so branch is a good pick up I dont think Jackson will be with the team next year so Branch Burelson Engram and hackett so when Jackson goes its not like they are losing their heads on what to do... I think this is a very very good pick up for seattle
BTW over the past 30 years or so only 50% of all draft picks in round 1 have actually become good NFL players the rest have been busts.. So its get a proven WR or take a 50/50 crap shoot on someone in 2007

Will he hit the bench now that Darrell Jackson and Deion Branch is on the starting lineup?
Wow...no respect for the guy. Ok...here's the deal with Burleson... His rookie year was not that impressive, pretty standard rookie year. Then again, he was playing opposite of Moss. His second year was when he broke out. Moss was injured a good part of the year and Burleson stepped up for over 1,000 yards. He played much of the season with non-performance affecting injuries. His third year (last year) he played injured for most of the year, and when he was healthy he played with a QB who wasn't playing well. He was, for the most part, a non-factor during the season. But if it weren't for Seattle 'getting back' at the Vikings, he would have been resigned this year. I'd be careful about writing him off this quickly.
