Regarding Lewis' contract, that's pretty much how I feel too. He will never ever live up to those expectations.

I believe he's getting paid more than Garnett and Shaq, right? Thing with Rashard is he's a 2nd-3rd fiddle type of player. I think with his game, he deserved 40-50 over 5 years but with the Magic needing a scorer, I could see them paying a premium to get him next to Howard, like 60-75. In the same ballpark with Richardson and Richard Jefferson.

What's the final number he got? 118 million? How in the world are they going to put anyone else next to Howard and Lewis? Orlando really needed someone like Lewis but that contract will KILL them.

<div class="quote_poster">AlleyOop Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Who said Foyle has been known to slow down Shaq lol !?! [IMG] Now you're just dreaming, CLos.

But keep it up. It's nice to hear someone else trying to justify having Foyle on the team. Yeah, you got it dude. He's gonna be your Shaq-stopper. The X-factor. The juggernaut inside. [IMG]

I guess while you're at it, you can talk up the Lewis signing too. Actually I'm shocked to find a Magic fan who is happy with that horrible signing. Yeah, you got a bonefide all-star and 20+ ppg scorer. A future hall-of-famer. Sure, he's getting paid Kobe Bryant / Dirk Nowitzki type dollars, but he's just as good, yeah? I mean Orlando is paying him more than Dwight Howard. That makes sense, yeah? [IMG]</div>

Apparently everyone else has seen Foyle play. Are you honestly a Warriors fan?? Foyle is a good defender and is big enough to guard Shaq. I didn't say he was gonna be the DPOY but he could at least slow Shaq down. Remember, Shaq isn't 25 so he isn't as dominant as he once was.

What about the Lewis signing? He was the most sought out FA this summer first off. He can easily score 20ppg especially in the East. Yes we overpaid him like hell but it just means we really needed him.

Retaining Darko was hard and we really tried to resign him but his agent was being a dickhead. Anyways, it's been posted so many times on the Magic forum so if you want to take a look at it, be my guest.

I AM a warriors fan and have seen every game foyle has touched the floor since 2001 when i first got NBA league pass. The only way foyle can slow shaq down is if he falls down and shq trips over him. There has to be many guys sitting in europe and in the d-league with just as much skill and an actual desire to play in the NBA. You will be more disappointed anf frustrated than happy with Foyle. He may get an occasional blocked shot, but you will be pulling your hair out when he gets an inlet pass and goes right through his hands or he gets an offensive rebound and he misses rim and all. HAve this conversation in FEb and then see what you have to say magic fan.

I think you're right boogielew, I couldn't actualy recall a game where Foyle was a real Shaq stopper (or Shaq slower-downer) because at the time he wasn't even that big or heavy with muscle and he lacked quick footwork for defensive positioning. The real Shaq stopper I remember had been Erick Dampier and he weighed 265 lbs or some number, which I thought was 10 or 5 more lbs worth of muscle than Foyle had. Dampier was the muscleman center and the post defense footwork expert, not Foyle. Foyle's game was all about shotblocking and making hustle plays which resulted in some extra posessions or occasionally some nice passes which led to transition buckets. But yea, I gotta believe it was Erick Dampier who should take the most credit for most times when the Lakers lost to the Warriors.

Oh yeah, everyone around the league knows that Adonal Foyle has a reputation in the NBA for, as you put it, "slowing down Shaq." Every basketball coach and GM knows that. Foyle is the "Shaq-stopper." [IMG] [IMG]

It sounds to me like you're just talking out of your behind, CLos. [IMG] I've seen every Warrior game -- that's all 82 games -- every season the last 7 years (dating back to when you were in the 5th grade, according to your public profile). Let me just tell you something: no one who knows anything about the Warriors in the bay area -- staff, writers, players, coaches, GMs, fans -- has ever even hinted at the the remote possibility that maybe there's even a one in a million chance that Adonal Foyle is able to slow down Shaq. No one here has ever said that. So where the heck do you get that from?

lol you're cracking me up, bud [IMG]

Alright let me paint the picture here, who's going to have a more educated guess as to who has the better read on Foyle's game.

Fans who have watched him for almost his entire career or a fan of the team he's just signed with, who's seen him maybe 5 times and is drinking the Adonal is a defensive stopper koolaid?

We all wanted him to leave dude, he absolutely had no value and eventually cut. This is a team that is forced to play Al Harrington at center.

We're not telling you this to be rude or we we're butthurt over losing Foyle. He sucks at basketball. He can block a shot here or there but he gets abused playing the interior, not a good rebounder, clumsy, no skill, no instinct and has never dedicated himself to basketball. He's nice and has his moments of hustling for loose balls...

The only advantage playing him against Shaq is his six fouls which could possibly keep Dwight out of foul trouble...

    That's that.

Glad to see you guys avoided Donahue because that would have ended badly.
