Who will lead the team in scoring? How many points?
Baron Davis 20.0 ppg (Offense runs through Baron Davis halfcourt or open court. He's probably the only guy that realistically finishes strong at the hoop and makes it memorable like a Jrich player would. Baron Davis is a big guard that packs a post game that other players on the team do not have against their respective positions. Baron is really strong, tall, long, and quick for his position at point guard. Therefore Baron Davis can create more separation against a smaller defender guarding him or shoot right over him. This causes double team attention if Baron Davis cannot be stopped by his assignment, which allows one of the Warriors to be open somewhere on the floor. It's also why few teams are willing to take the short or weak point guard these days despite good talent package or playmaking skills.) Baron Davis is one of those guys that almost has the complete package and makes everyone around him better when he's willing to give up the rock and is playing somewhat healthy.

Who will lead the team in rebounding? How many rebounds?
Andris Biedrins 9.1 rpg (This is depending on his personal foul trouble or if we got a surprise starter hogging up the boards. He's a good rebounder boxing out or coming out of position, but he gets a lot of fouls still because he is not that strong compared to other big players. He tries to play aggressive and all over to keep up but he gets caught with a foul. He also gets gyped a lot by the refs). Biedrins' game is about quickness [just like Pau Gasol's] and heart just like [Tyson Chandler's]. So I'm not sure if rebounding will be as consistent as somebody that has those elements and is a lot stronger and heavier and has teammates that could box out for him.

Who will lead the team in assists? How many assists?
Baron Davis 8.0 assists per game. Even if 23 games played all this year, 8 assists per game.

The most disappointing player will be:
Matt Barnes (1 hit wonder? If the other guys on the team step up, Barnes could be in the dog house if the coach feels there are more reliable, heady players to choose ahead of him in the rotation.)

The most promising player will be:
Marco Bellinelli (For this season: He's had a very basic game this summer that doesn't demonstrate his all around ability or ability to get inside, but if you got shooters that are so quick to get open and get the shot off accurately, keep giving him the ball off the screen to keep the plays simple. However, this doesn't seem like a useful way to play if those shots aren't falling and he's not known for giving up the ball a lot. He'll be very useful at spacing the floor and providing some elements that Sjax does on offense like passing and driving, but just not as much, I think. Probably no post game against shooting guards or enough physical defense to do the things that Sjax does. He could be streaky too, but fans will be so infatuated with his shot ability they'll see him more as a potential star than good role player. I think he could be very useful since we could play him as a point guard and have him post up that way. But as shooting guard, he's going to have to outquick and outgun them.

For long term: The longterm star could be Brandon Wright if his fancy footwork can translate to the pros with that skinny small forward sized body of his. He's got a lot of question marks, which is why he fell despite some guys going crazy over him as a 3rd-4th best player in the entire draft. He's hyped mainly because of his advanced scoring skill, his athleticism, and the ability to hold his own as a 19 year old that played in the ACC conference, a conference which recruits many McDonald's All-Americans.)

I think comparing the two would be like comparing Brandon Roy to the potential and impact of LaMarcus Aldridge at F or C. One will obviously be more ready than the other at the start, but the other could be better as a franchise piece down the road.

______ will be the most improved player on the Warriors roster from last year
Kelenna Azubuike (I think he's got a big chance to show off his swingman's game by being an efficient and reliable player at first. Then as he gains more confidence and respect by his teammates, his role will grow a lot further. He's got a long arms contrary to some reports of an average wingspan [making me wonder if his wingspan was compared to pro or college players?]. He can play bigger than his listed height because of the long arms. He's got a good shot, he can create some, and he's a good athlete in the open court. He'll probably be a Stephen Jackson or Raja Bell type guy than a marquee player and he'll probably be less consistent than some other rotation players. But he'll be one of the most improved guys because we hardly saw this guy play last year and he'll get plenty of time this season to show what he can do and increase his role on offense. The shooting guard spot is wide open now and there will be competition to get the starting role.

Who has a better overall season?
    Brandon Wright or Marco Belinelli
Marco Bellinelli (Pro experience, a prototype shooting guard's game, and he would have a very useful role on a fastbreaking team with his speed and all around guard skills. Big men like Brandan Wright typically adjust a lot slower due to the speed and the strength of which other bigs and opposing guards play. Also the way the game is called by referees [ like Tim Donaghy [IMG] ] could affect some elements of play. We'll see how they call traveling violations, hand checks, and reach in fouls on the rookies this year.

_____ will be the Warriors best player this upcoming season
Baron Davis (He's the franchise player, but this depends on health, of course)

Down 1 with 5 seconds left in the fourth, the best option to hit would be ________
Baron Davis (He's the only guy on the team that can make something out of nothing and not lose the ball so easily while doing it. He can go inside and he can make the outside shot when it matters most. This depends on health though. But most matchups cannot guard this guy because of his size, speed, smarts, and strength.)

______ will lead the Warriors in 3P%
Al Harrington (I'm saying no to Marco on this one. 82 games, shot selection, shot attempts, and a longer 3-point line could mean his %'s might go down later in the year if fatigued. Remember the nba is more physical and he may have to exert some energy to play defense. It could also mean Azu comes in to bail him out at the shooting guard spot if the Marco jumper ain't there. I think Azu is a lot stronger and will be a better defensive guy than Bel. So the best 3 point shooter in my mind would still be Al Harrington because of the last two years in his career and that most of the big guys he plays against have to step back on him or else he'll just beat them on the angle if they are too close). Marco might have to make some adjustments in the pros to make me believe he'll be the next Mike Miller or Michael Redd for us.

Who will lead the Warriors in missed games?
Baron Davis (lolz! maybe? History backs me up on this one, but he's still the best player, playmaker, and best scorer. He'll be the best scorer if he takes that role when nobody else gets it done.)

How far will the Warriors go this season? Wins? Playoffs?
depends on health/availability of Baron Davis and Coach Nelson. Without them they're still talented rooks who don't play that well as a team. They take too many three pointers, they don't play defense at times or rebound, and they stand around a lot. The Warriors can play some terrific swarming zone types of defense designed to cause deflections and turnovers, but outside of that they are not a good defensive team due to size and their inability to prevent the opposing team from getting second chance point opportunities.

Bonus: How many Warriors will be on the all star team? Who will they be?
    1-3
Baron Davis, Stephen Jackson (slight chance if break out year and he gets in a la Wally Scerzbiak or Andrei Kirilenko) or Monta Ellis (if he adds more playmaking ability and halfcourt offense ability) Baron Davis should be a lock if healthy.

    I agree with CR2's answers with a few exceptions/clarifications:

Most disappointing: Kosta Perovic. I think we'll see he's a stiff. The league will make some adjustments to Barnes, but he'll still merit big minutes.

3 pt% - Belinelli. That guy has Reggie Miller range and a crazy fast release. And likely the league will sleep on him for a while.

1 all-star, and i'll give you all one guess on who it is [IMG]

CR I think you're dead on about (as my wife calls him) Bookey. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I think they saw how good he was and then stashed him on the bench so the could re-sign him on the cheap. He has a ton of game

Wins/Playoffs - 48 wins, 2nd round. Reasonable health permitting, of course.

Wait are we sure Kosta Perovic will get any playing time this year? I figured regulation rotation guys. Even if we're talking 10-12th man, I gotta vote POB on that one. His comments after that one summer league game pretty much spell to me that this guy is clueless or he doesn't really enjoy his job that much. He'd rather cook and clean up a kitchen than play ball. And you know he tries to hint at confidence problem, but if he was truly nba ready, he'd know what to do. He just came out too early and found himself not ready to play nba ball.

I guess for Bel, maybe I was trying to get at he may get tired legs as the season goes on or because of the physical game and that it may affect his shot. Also, he was taking lots of deep shots off screen or off the dribble as opposed to set shooting stance that I see Al Harrington do where he waits to receive the ball from a standstill. I don't know if it may play a role in %'s as some players shoot better off the dribble than they do off the set shot on the wings or right on the baseline, but I figure the guy who shoots the shortest 3 pointer receiving the ball with little additional movement or effort, is going to hit the higher %'s on less attempts and less energy spent. Even if Marco nails 3/7 or 2/7 on 3 point shot attempts, what if Al Harrington has been plugging away at 1/2 or 2/4 or 2/2 every night? It could happen with the occasional 0 for's some nights as opposed to 2/7's or 3/6's and 0 for 4's frequently.

    http://195.56.77.208/player/?id=BEL_MAR&year=2006&team=1119

    Also, the stats worry me.

But yeah, we'll see how Marco will be used and if it is comfortable to just give him the ball like I saw on some plays he did where Pierre Pierce got him involved. We'll see. [IMG]

One more thing. I forgot to include Biedrins as a possible all-star. Yeah I know... but if Garnett is out east with Shaq, Camby gets hurt, Yao gets hurt, and Okur actually made it, Biedrins could make a Jamaal Magloire appearance. We never know. 14/10 could be a target of Biedrins'.

CR2 - Point taken regarding rotation players...we were coming from different perspectives

Re: belly's legs....his shot seems to be all arms and hands, so i don't see legs as a big problem for him like it would be with a traditional jumpshooter

Who will lead the team in scoring? How many points?
    Baron Davis - 21.5

Who will lead the team in rebounding? How many rebounds?
    Andris Biedrins - 9.5

Who will lead the team in assists? How many assists?
Baron Davis - 8 - He should really be averaging 10 a game, but they never seem to utilize the pick and roll with Biedrins even when it's working well.

The most disappointing player will be:
Monta Ellis - This being his sophmore year, I think opposing teams will start to shutdown his game much like how Utah did by waiting for him at the hoop rather than pressuring him on the perimeter.

The most promising player will be:
Al Harrington - Yes, I'm buying into the hype. A slimmed down version of Harrington with any increase of hops and a desire to rebound would greatly benefit the Warriors. I can see him averaging 15 pts, 8 rebs next year. [IMG]

Al Harrington will be the most improved player on the Warriors roster from last year

Who has a better overall season?
Brandon Wright or Marco Belinelli - Marco would definitely bring the points and excite the crowd with his crazy shots, but I don't see much else from him. I can see Wright being a great defender, grabbing rebounds, blocking shots and running with Baron for easy transition buckets.

Baron Davis will be the Warriors best player this upcoming season

Down 1 with 5 seconds left in the fourth, the best option to hit would be Stephen Jackson - He has ice water running through his veins and always seems to be able to hit the big shot. But he needs to catch and shoot. If he has the ball in his hand dribbling away the clock, I would prefer he pass up the shot for Baron Davis.

Al Harrington will lead the Warriors in 3P%

Who will lead the Warriors in missed games? Stephen Jackson for just the seven games he will miss in the beginning of the season. [IMG]

How far will the Warriors go this season? Wins? Playoffs? 48-34 - Yes for playoffs.

Bonus: How many Warriors will be on the all star team? Who will they be? 1 - Baron Davis - Beidrins has the potential to go to the all-star game, but I don't think he has enough name recognition to get in unless he avgs 20/10.

    Andris Beidrins 10.2 ppg

Who will lead the team in assists? How many assists?
    Baron Davis 8.7 apg

The most disappointing player will be:
Kosta Perovic. Looking at his Euro numbers, I just don't see how (with his game) he's going to be an impact player in this league. Obviously, I really hope I'm wrong.

The most promising player will be:
Brandan Wright. This is definitely an optimistic vote, but I'm hoping that he convinces everybody that he'll be a solid 4 in this league for years to come. Maybe he won't be SOLID this season, but I think he will convince everybody that he will be very soon.

______ will be the most improved player on the Warriors roster from last year
Azuibuke. Like someone else said, it was almost like we underplayed him last year so that nobody would snatch him away from us. He showed flashes of brilliance, and I think he definitely will have a better opportunity to show what he's made of this year. I have high hopes for this guy.

Who has a better overall season?
    Brandon Wright or Marco Belinelli
Marco. I think that he has the potential to come in and contribute with some long range shots from the very first game. I think that, given Wright's talents, it's going to take him a little longer to get used to this level of play, and really won't come into his own for another year or two. Marco has the potential to score 20 on October 30th.

_____ will be the Warriors best player this upcoming season
Baron Davis is still the glue that holds this team together. He's an incredible player that makes the other 4 guys on the court better too. I see no reason why he won't be the Warriors' MVP yet again.

Down 1 with 5 seconds left in the fourth, the best option to hit would be ________
    Baron Davis. Nuff said.

______ will lead the Warriors in 3P%
    Marco Bellinelli. See above.

Who will lead the Warriors in missed games?
I don't want to jinx anybody...so i'm skiping this one! [IMG]

How far will the Warriors go this season? Wins? Playoffs?
46 wins, and a trip to the playoffs. Until I know who we're playing in the first round, I can't predict if we go any further.

Bonus: How many Warriors will be on the all star team? Who will they be?
    One All-Star = Mr. Davis

Who will lead the team in scoring? How many points?
Ellis 20.2 (that's assuming he's improved his three point shot and jump shot in general).

Who will lead the team in rebounding? How many rebounds?
    Biedrins 12.5

Who will lead the team in assists? How many assists?
    Baron 8.6

The most disappointing player will be:
Davis - worried he's going to come into camp out of shape and or get injured.

The most promising player will be:
Not sure what this questions means. Seems kind of vague and redundant.

______ will be the most improved player on the Warriors roster from last year

Wishful thinking but I'm hoping it's Harrington. If not then I say Biedrins.

Who has a better overall season?
    Brandon Wright or Marco Belinelli
    Belinelli.

_____ will be the Warriors best player this upcoming season
    Davis unless he gets injured.

Down 1 with 5 seconds left in the fourth, the best option to hit would be ________
    Davis.
______ will lead the Warriors in 3P%
    Harrington

Who will lead the Warriors in missed games?
Jackson, because of his 8 game suspension! But it'll probably be Davis

How far will the Warriors go this season? Wins? Playoffs?

41 wins. Beat the Mavs in six games and then lose to Utah in five.

Bonus: How many Warriors will be on the all star team? Who will they be?

I think it's interesting that quite a few people are putting Monta Ellis as the top scorer for this team. I am remembering that he wasn't that great of a go-to scorer, when the opposing team found out his weaknesses. When the opposing defender forced Monta to shoot from the outside, I thought he struggled quite a bit. I don't know if Monta is team leading scorer material right now. Then again, I am not sure who would be a better option. I guess I'd lean more towards Baron Davis.

I agree with Azubuike being the most improved player.

I'd also go with lower win totals than most. I'll be modest and say the Warriors have a good shot at 42 plus or minus 3 games. I also don't see the Warriors getting passed the first round, if they get that far.

I think Monta Ellis will have a Carmelo Anthony type of second year if that outside shot doesn't improve and he doesn't find a way to get others more involved. He'll still be a pretty good scorer, but I agree with Clif that defenses will figure out a way to contain Monta Ellis so he either gives up the rock sooner, turns it over, or he takes a shot that he isn't comfortable with yet. Defenders could take away something from Ellis to neutralize his quickness. One thing with Ellis that he shares with Carmelo is bad three point shooting. Another is they both are turnover prone. He'll still be good, but he won't be Baron Davis' level so I think Baron Davis will continue to be the best player and best scorer. The most improved will be somebody we least expect to be any good. Like for instance, Bookie (azu).

It's possible if Biedrins grabs all those rebounds he could of had instead of tipping them out to the perimeter.

Chris Bosh can't grab 12 per. Dwight Howard bearly does it and you expect Biedrins to? No way.

12.5 reb may be a bit of stretch, but Biedrins already grabbed 9.3 rebounds last year. That number is also diluted, because Nelson used Harrington for a center, and Biedrins didn't get that many playing time in that stretch. In 48 mins stats, Howard gets 16 rebs, Biedrins gets 15.4 rebs, and Bosh gets 13.4 rebs, so it's not like Biedrins is way behind either Howard or Bosh. Also, Biedrins is only 21 years old, and many players tend to improve their rebounding as they get more experience in the league like Bosh did. While I won't bet that Biedrins will average 12.5 rebs, it's also not a totally out of possibility either...
