Welcome to the Official Sandwich Thread! In this thread you can debate, share and love sandwiches without being looked at strange.

My first sandwich that I think is underrated is the BLT. A simple, yet classic sandwich, the BLT can satisfy even the hungriest man. A great breakfast sandwich, the BLT tops my list of underrated sandwiches.

My Top 5 Underrated Sandwich List:

1.BLT
2.PB&J
3.Nutella
4.Grilled Cheese
5.Grandma's own - Bologna Sandwich

I love Nutella, but I no longer eat chocolate, so that's out the window. Used to eat it all the time, and I probably have some in my house. Don't tempt me to open it.

Oh and I hate PB&J. It's just a bad combo for me.

Go open it. I love simple sandwiches because they are so easy to make. I mean, a specialty sandwich is great when I have time, but when I'm strapped for time, nothing like a simple Nutella or BLT!

I used to be addicted to Nutella, now I'm just sick of it. [IMG]

A turkey sandwich is always good though.

How the hell can anyone get sick of Nutella? I don't eat it in a sandwich though, I only have it in France or Belgium with many of their sweets.

My favorite sandwich is my own. Also, it has a name, but I'm not sharing that. lol

First you need fresh chicken breast from a deli. Cut it thin and remove all of the fat, then take the pieces and mix them thoroughly with dozens of spices (listed below). I have placed three images below showing what I mix the chicken with. When finished, fry the pieces on a pan in Italian extra virgin olive oil. You don't need much. You only need to cook each side for two or three minutes, basically until white using a medium flame.

After that you cut open a sub sandwich bun (or whichever you prefer) from your local grocer or bakery. Spread your favorite parmesan cheese on both sides of the bun. Place the chicken pieces nicely to form two layers on the bottom bun. Take two slices of Boar's Head mozzarella cheese and cut them both in 3/4. Take the large pieces of cheese and stick them on each end of the bun on top of the chicken. Then take the two smaller pieces and rip them in half and place them where you please or eat them if not needed.

Add more spices and garlic salt on top of the cheese. You can also make the top part of the bun garlic bread if you want even more flavor, but it adds much more fat to it since you will need to use margarine with the garlic powder.

When satisfied, place the top and bottom parts of the bun into a toaster oven and toast it directly in between the light and dark settings for best quality. Once finished, break out your favorite Lay's Baked Chips. It tastes the best with this and is healthier for you anyway. Add lettuce, tomato, peppers, etc to the sandwich as you please and cut it in half. Enjoy!

I also like the flavor of Goose Island's Orange Cream soda or Live Wire Mountain Dew to go along as a beverage. Anything with citrus flavor will due though, such as a fresh cold Orangina.

<font size=""3"">What you'll need:

- Sub sandwich style bun

- Chicken breast (cut it yourself at home!)

- Boar's Head mozzarella cheese

- Any type of parmesan cheese will be fine (place on both sides of the bun first)

- Lettuce

- Centrella Traditional Bread Crumbs

- Mrs. Dash Extra Spicey (Red colored top: goes in the breading mix and on top of the cheese)

- Mrs. Dash Garlic (Blue colored top: goes in the breading mix)

- Mrs. Dash Original Blend (Yellow colored top: goes in the breading mix)

- Mrs. Dash Tomato Basil Garlic (Dark red colored top: goes in the breading mix)

- McCormick California Style Garlic Salt (Place on the cheese)

- McCormick California Style Garlic Powder (Place on the margarine if making one side garlic bread)

Things that taste even better, but you won't find in the United States:

I import Bixente Ibarra A.O.C. Piment d'Espelette from Bayonne, France. You can see the packaging in the second image up front. This is a distinct Basque red pepper that is exceedingly expensive in powdered form. Close to 10 dollars per package in France, likely 12 to 20 dollars if found in the US. Worth it! Adds great flavor to lomo sandwiches!

If you have the opportunity to ever find this or pick one up or have it imported somewhere, you will just replace the Mrs. Dash Extra Spicey with this and use far less garlic.

No garlic bread half for this.

To create the Garlic Bread top:

Just spread margarine lightly and then a little garlic powder. That's it.

Haha, good idea. I'll see if I can borrow my buddy's camera and put the video on YT.

Also, I'm hungry, I think I'm going to make this right now for dinner. I'll take a picture to show how it looks when finished without any additional things such as lettuce, tomato, etc.

Damn, that Sub sandwich recipe M Two One posted looks good. I have to go to stop by Randalls on my way home tomorrow to pick up the ingredients.

I might add gravy to the sub. I love turkey sandwiches (leftovers from Thanksgiving) with gravy in a bun....soo good.

I work at Subway so I have tons of favorites, that I'm slowly starting to get sick of.

One of my favorites to make at Subway is the Chicken Pizziola (sp?). Basically oven roasted chicken breast, with marinera sauce, pepperoni and cheese. I occasionally add bacon for the hell of it, and I can put as much of any of the ingredients as I want since I work there. Toast it then add the veggies of your choice and you're good to go. However its pretty expensive if you're going to buy it at Subway, but a homemade one is just as good.

Ok, here's a pic of the plain finished sandwich along with extra pieces of chicken to show how I cut them. Yummy.

The sandwich Adam Sandler made in the movie Spanglish owns! I found the recipe for it online.

Quote:

Ingredients:
3-4 slices of bacon
2 slices of Monterey Jack cheese
2 slices of toasted rustic country loaf (pain de campagne)
preferred substitution used here: sourdough boule)
1 tbsp of mayo
4 tomato slices
2 leaves of butterhead lettuce (Boston lettuce variety works here)
1 teaspoon butter
1 egg

Equipment:
Frying pan
Sheet of tinfoil
2 sandwich picks (optional)
Defibrillator (optional, but highly recommended)

Cooking instructions:

Prepare tomato slices, cheese, and lettuce leaves first, put them on the side so that they're ready to go when you need them. With a medium-sized frying pan, lay out the bacon slices and set the range to medium heat. Watch it, but let it take care of itself and cook until crispy; it'll take 8-10 minutes (flip once if you like midway through). Meanwhile, preheat broiler; lay bread slices on a sheet of tinfoil and broil each side of bread slices for 20 seconds to toast. Put cheese slices on one bread slice and heat additional 20 seconds on foil. Remove and set aside. (Optional: leave broiler on, and right before you top sandwich off with cheese slice, heat again for 10-15 seconds to soften cheese again) Finish bacon, drain on paper towels. While you wait for this, clean frying pan (or use a second) and throw it back on medium heat with the butter slice. When the butter is melted, break egg into pan and wait for whites to set. VERY IMPORTANT: if the egg yolk breaks before you actually put the egg on the sandwich, discard and start the egg frying over. Flip egg and cook for 20 seconds, remove from heat. On the plain toasted bread slice, apply mayo, layer bacon slices, tomato, and lettuce. Top lettuce with the egg and, finally, with the cheese topped slice of bread (cheese side down, of course).

We're not done yet, folks. If you have the sandwich picks, you might want to use one on each side of the sandwich. Take a bread slicer and cut right down the middle, holding the sandwich gently but firmly. This is when you want the yolk to break; as it does, it runs down the side of the sandwich in a glorious golden waterfall of cholesterol. Did we mention yet that this sandwich is 1200 calories? Congratulate yourself by saying, "Bueno fat sandwich". Charge defibrillator before serving.

The Spanglish Sandwich is as good as advertised, and it far surpasses the movie that bore it. I highly recommend that you give it a try.
