I saw on the packers website that harrell is 3rd string. How is he looking so far this year and how come he's not seeing much action?

One of the areas where the Packers have the most depth is on the defensive line. Especially Defensive Tackle... He's a rookie. He's going to need a year to get everything down and to hit the weight room before he has a chance to be an impact player.

Depth and overall talent level at DT are the main reasons he's not getting much playing time right now.

I wasn't a big fan of the selection, to be honest. Time will tell if I'm wrong or not. Look at Mario Williams. He got lambasted in Houston last year and this year it looks like he could be a breakout star on Defense.

Right now my attitude is "meh," but I'm willing to give him a year or two and the benefit of the doubt.

To early to judge. I rather of seen the Pack take Greg Olsen but if Harrell can emerge that makes Colin Cole tradeable. I hope they didn't pick him, thinking that they were going to let Corey Williams walk this off season. If so that would be a big mistake in my opinion.

I remember he was considered a huge reach at the time of the draft, and the analysts were criticizing the Packers pick

Wasn't a fan of his selection, nor Brandon Jacksons, and wasn't really an avdocate of Rouse, and I absolutely hated the James Jones pick

    My reactions are now

Harell- His drafting could be considred a huge mistake especially with him being INACTIVE for the first two games, I would have preferred Greg Oleson or a trade down.

Jackson- Not a huge fan, but i don't really dislike the pick as much as I did, would prefer Leonard & orPittman on the roste. Looks to be at least a good guy out the backfield, shuffles and studders a lil too much for my liking, he didn't seem to do that at Nebraska.

Rouse- Didn't think he was a good fit, He's bigger and has limited coverage abillity, the safties in our D are supposed to be interchangeable both being more Free Safety like.

Jones- Kid really Turned it on and proved all of us in Pack land wrong(at least those who hated the pick), while he's no Randy moss, He's showing he has what it takes to thrive in the WCO, and has already gained the trust of Brett.

The pick shocked me when it happened, but i've warmed to the pick. The only guy in the first round that I would have loved to have picked would have been Greg Olsen because he would have made a bigger impact and given us a nice/big option at a position thats been a dissapointment for years. But Ted Thompson is clearly trying to build the defense at it's core, the defensive line. One thing that has to be noted before the draft is, Johnny Jolly was not expected to be in the positon he is right now. With Johnny Jolly's emergence, Justin Harrell has been stashed away for next year. Going into the draft out rotation at DT was Pickett/Williams/Cole, and then it was a toss-up between whoever made it through camp.

I just can't wait until next year when he's completely ready to show what he's got. He's gotten on the field in short stints the last couple weeks.
