<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The special teams play was a classic meltdown.</div> The smart coach would have run the ball twice to get the Bears to burn their two timeouts and then punted the ball out of bounds just to play it safe and let your defense win it for you. Sadly for Cards fans, Denny was 0 - 2 on smart decisions there. It's like I said last week after the Chiefs/Cards game...the only team that can beat the Cardinals IS the Cardinals.
It goes back to playing conservative before half. They should of taken some shots for 6. If they do they probably win the game because Chicago just runs out of time.
An ugly win I will admit, but a win non the less. I do hope with this week off that we can get our Offence back .As always GO BEARS!
Like I said, the Bears were just a couple feet away from defeat. At least the teams that are better than the Cardinals know how to beat the Bears now. If the Giants get a good lead on you like the Cardinals did, you won't beat them. The Bears will not go undefeated this year because they will have another implosion like they did last night, only to a good team that can hold the lead.

I do think that the Bears have some reason to worry - I have said it before - the Bears offense is not as good as they have been playing. Grossman finally showed his true colors, IMO. I don't think he is that good of a QB when pressured. The key to beating the Bears is to get in the QBs face a little - knock him down, make him antsy, and most of all, get a lead on the Bears (easier said than done). That being said, I think that defense is good enough to still get 14 wins during the season.
I had been thinking that the Bears were going to be the clear champion of the NFC this season and after watching last night's game I am not so sure. So, are there any NFL teams who are clearly superior to the others?
Yes, the Chicago Bears....How many times have I heard the old cliche' that you know a team is good when they find a way to win on the road despite playing thier worst game....that was the most impressive thing Ive seen the Bears do this year, and that includes thier million point drubbings of half thier opponents....good teams win on the road without thier "A" game....great teams win on the road with thier "F" game, and thats what the Bears did....

Yeah, I know, I'm the new guy, so prolly get a flogging for this. But let me atleast say I like the bears. Not my fav team, but I enjoy watching them. But the thing is, I was searching through their forum here, and the thing I don't see mentioned is a consideration of the teams the bears have played. I mean, after 6 weeks, their opponents have a combined record of 12 W - 21 L, a .363 PCT. I think the bears have one of the easiest schedules (if not THE easiest) this year. Yes, they flogged the hell out of seattle. But seattle came into the game banged up, playing like crap, and missing the key component (arguably) to their offense. Not a whole lot can be done against the bears defense, and without a key offensive player, even less. I think the seahwals are lucky to be where they are now as it is. So i'm not so sure if this was a real test or not. The vikings, that was a good game, close, and both teams played hard. The bears where able to pull away with the win, which is all that counts. But they did nothing on the ground (50 some yards?), and grossman had a lot of passes, but only 1 td and 2 INT. Fortunatly the Viks did not have the offensive power to do much either against the bears DF. The next best team they have played is the Cards, and that is not saying much, and they barely won that game. So are the bears really what people are cracking them up to be, or just another year of overrating that leaves them dead in the playoffs when they play a dominate balanced team. My guess, just like I said last year, is that they are over rated. Lucky for them they have 3 BYE weeks (OK, really only one, but SF & Miami don't count with a 3-9 total record) before they play a good team in the Giants. If the giants can keep it together that long... ::shrug::

Have to be the seahawks or the vikes

I should have realized sooner

I woulden't go that far, but it speaks volumes about how good they are when they can still win after having a horrendous game overall.
