The Future

I'm dissapointed. The team with the most championships in American major sports, only has decent activity. The team I cry for, the team I cheer for, the team that means the most to me. And we're living in one of the best eras. In 50 years, we'll be able to say "Yeah, I saw the best player ever in Baseball, in a yankees uniform" or "Remember the intentional walk to Jeter, the one that put Giambi back on earth" "I saw the flip, the dive, and the best closer in the history of baseball".

And what better way to open in the future of these boards, then by talking about the future of the team?

Our outfield will be stacked, completely and totally stacked. Imagine an OF so good, Melky Cabrera is playing LF, with his range, speed, and arm. We have 2 5 tool players, both who'll hit 30+ HR, by the names of Austin Jackson, and Jose Tabata.

The infield doesn't look bad, either. Hopefully Jete and ARod will be playing the corners, with a former 1st rounder, CJ Henrey playing SS, and You-Know-Who at 2nd. The only question mark is catcher.

The bullpen looks like it will be very, very, good. Mo will hopefully tutor some of our BP prospects, including future setup man Edwar Ramirez, and hopefully future closer, Humberto Sanchez. Remember that trade with the Tigers, for Sheff? Yeah, it wasn't for nothing. Sanchez can through 97, and has a good curveball and slider, with a decent change. His only problame is health, he's coming off of TJ.

Our biggest strength will be our starting pitching. A rotation with Wang, Phil, Joba, and Ian; very very nice. Wang's been shown to be a commodity. Phil, if you've ever seen him in the minors, has better stuff than he's showing. He's a younger, Clay Bucholtz with better command of his FB, and less of a change. His problem, right now has been his hammy, it's messing up his velocity and location. Remember, before he joined the Yankees, his best pitch was a slider, one that was put on shelf because, it's bad for his arm, and they wanted him to develop other pitches. Once he can throw that slider again... look out. Joba, as you've seen, is great. 98 MPH, great slider, good curve, with THAT location? DAMN! If Edwar or Ian teaches him a change, look out. And he works his ass off, that's why he's thinned down so much. Had he been his current weight, he'd have been a 1st rounder easy. Ian has a good FB, 90-92, great change, and most importantly, pinpoint accuracy.

So anyone else excited as hell? Show your support for the best team ever, and make these the best boards on S2!

The day Yuliesky Gourriel defects from Cuba, the Yankees will have their third baseman/shortstop of the future. He is going to be a star if he gets to come over.

I have more faith in Phil, to be honest. But Joba's the man.

did you say that Jeter will be playing a corner does that mean hes switching to 1b... hes gonna stay there at SS for a long time

as for talking about the Yankees future i mean that all sounds well and good but c'mon i dont see all of those players panning out exactly how you want them to. Its nice to say that all the prospects are going to turn into future Yankee stars but what are the real chances of that. Also is the Boss going to wait for these guys to develop into great stars, is he going to pressure Cashman to turn a deal in the offseason or at the deadline to get another aging star and get rid of the prospects? Could happen its happened before. Also I see the Yankees as usual using their enormus payroll to go out and lock up 30 year old players to 6 year 15 mill a year deals. Theres a ton of potential for a great future but we'll see how the front office does because honestly i think the front office with Steinbrenner pushing buttons makes its share of terrible moves. We'll see.

Any chance Joba will be the closer if Mariano leaves?

    @^ No.

    @^^

DJ sucks at SS. A lot. He'd be a good first baseman.

The one good thing about George slipping, is that Cash is in control. He knows it's about the future. If the Twins offered Santana for Joba and Ian, he wouldn't take it.

As for pitching, I don't see how you don't think they'll pan out. When Phil isn't injured, he nasty. Look at Texas. Joba... is well... Joba. Ian? He's a great 3rd starter, but will be in the 4-5 hole for the Yanks.

As for hitters, maybe. I haven't seen them against major league ready pitching.

DJ sucks at SS? He's won 3 straight gold glove at the position. I know there's advanced stats to suggest he's below average and doesn't make enough plays, but I wouldn't say he sucks there.

Since when do GG count for shit?

He's way below average. Slow release, no range to his left. It's the truth. Just because he makes amazing plays to his right means shit. I'd rather him back it up, so he has more time for left balls.
