This may have been initially discussed with the heads of the organization, but the players were well aware I'm sure.

Saying the players were well aware would be speculation. It discusses the heads of the organization like stated. If anything they were the ones a bit overconfident.

Edit: Don't get me wrong. The Chargers organization was def stupid for making plans that far in advance.

Without even looking at the rest of the posts, I'm betting that everyone other than Pats fans are picking the Colts to win simply because they hate the Pats.

So, there will be no football played this weekend?? Funny. I did not see any clever commercials or Prince perform at half.

Famous last words??? Allow me to get biblical and say Pride cometh before the fall.

What goes up must come down. Judging by the collective ego in Foxboro, there will be quite an impact.</div>
Thank God the Pats players don't think like the fans do then. The players will be ready for a hard fought game against the Colts. The Pats fans will talk smack and continue to be arrogant but don't let that fool you into thinking that the players will be the same way. I'm more worried about this game than I was about the Chargers game. I was shaky during that whole game too. I'll need some medication during this one.

This coming from a Giants fan of all people. Yeah, the Giants have great attitudes all around. Shockey is a really classy guy, if constantly running one's mouth means they are classy.

My prediction? The Pats win. I won't bet against a head coach and QB who have a playoff record of 11-1.

That being said, I'll be smiling if NE gets crushed. And to think I would have been hoping for NE to get to the SB again if they had just shown a little self-restraint.

I totally agree. I've never been so firmly in the Colts corner as I am now.

This taunting event should be put away and forgotten at least until next season if/when these two teams meet again. Players taunt each other inside and out of games every week of the season. Is there a week that goes by when Joey Porter doesn't mouth off to someone during warmups, for examplee? We are giving this one more attention because of the time of year it is now, and what is at stake.

VF, if you have decided not to support the Patriots and "root" for them next week, I'm sure they enjoy that. It just adds more motivation for them knowing that no one wants them to win. Besides, you are a Vikings fan, do you really need to root for anyone but them? I'm unfamiliar with this concept of 2nd favorite teams.

Again they held restraint when it mattered. The Chargers failed to do so & it cost them. You can throw 2 wrongs dont make a right, but whatever the act of a few players doesn't discount what the team pulled off yesterday.

When you've been a Vikings fan as long as I have, you quickly learn that its good to have a backup team. You never know when the Whizzanator is going to attack. [IMG]

Ultimately do I really care? Not really. I'd rather concern myself with making enough money this month to put food on the table. I just like to see players put back in their place when they act out of line. The Charger player who threw the headbutt learned his lesson by costing his team a huge penalty. I'd like to see the Patriots taken down a notch now that they have demonstrated how 'angry' they really were (not my words, but the words of one Patriots fan).

The law of averages has to catch up w/ them sometime. Sunday IMO would be a great time to start.

I think what's evident here is everyone outside of NE doesn't want to see NE win yet another SB. I can understand that as I hated the Cowboys of the 90s for similar reasons. But to jump on something as juvenile as this for your arguement why the Pats don't deserve to be where they are is silly. The action of a couple of players doesn't represent the team as a whole. And I only bring up Merriman's action to counter this claim of disrespect. If people weren't so anxious to jump on any little anti Patriot act they can get their hands on then I wouldn't have to defend them with the actions of others.

I can't see the Colts winning now that Brady has started to get in sync with 2 semi-goto guys (Gaffney, Caldwell), plus 3 very diffrent running backs. The Colts plan to stop one running back during the Chiefs and Ravens game worked, now lets see them do it against 3 (Maroney, Dillon, and Faulk).

Anti Patriot act? So now we are all liberals? [IMG]

I'm sure a lot of the reason people don't want NE to win is because they have won a lot recently. Personally, I think its pretty impressive to watch - BB is easily the smartest coach in the game today and watching him scheme alone is entertaining.

I'm just hoping it doesn't turn out to be a Bears vs. Patriots super bowl.

Hmm seems like someones changing the subject. In no way did i say the Giants have class but it seems like you just wanted to get away from the Pats disrespect.

I want the David vs. Goliath matchup in the Super Bowl. I want to see New England vs. New Orleans and I want New Orleans to shock the country. That's what I'm hoping for. Either way my heart is with the Saints now.

I'd like to see New Orleans as well. I think they would make for a more entertaining matchup. But on the otherhand redemption for '85 would be sweet as well. [IMG]

I'l be honest if the Dolphins or Colts aren't in contention then I won't bandwagon hop.

Rather, I root for parity if for no other reason than variety. Think back 10-12 years ago w/ all these dynasties... Super Bowls were as exciting, interesting, and entertaining as Chris Berman's annual wagon circling, gold digging joke of a predicition.

Hypocrisy irritates me and you have ZERO room to talk. Your head coach is an ass and several of your players are too. What I don't get is that the Pats do this ONE time and the Giants act out way more often than that and we're the bad guys. LMFAO

As an outsider, and Cowboys fan, I think you hit the nail on the head. No one (except the fans of that team) wants to see domination over a long period of time.

The two reasons people have hated the Cowboys (long-term) is because they either won a lot or they had those handful of people that were juveniles. The actions of Michael Irvin and a few others defined the team, rather than Troy Aikman, Moose Johnston, Bill Bates, etc. I will grant you that the Patriots probably have better class overall than those 90s Cowboys, but the idea is the same.

Belichek and Brady are both very good, and one of the best at what they do and few will dispute that. I wish Marino would have won a superbowl, which would have helped some others come to my conclusion that he was a good quarterback. Do I wish he would have won 10 superbowls? Not a chance. There's a line and for the most part, NE has crossed it.
