Lane Kiffin.... offensive coordinator for USC last year.... has only 1 year of NFL experience as a defensive quality control coach in 2000 and hes 31 years old. Good hire??? I mean I know teams are trying to do the same thing as the Jets did last year with Mangini but is this going too far?

I think we've been been the victim of some misdirection by 'Crazy' Al. One USC assistant gets all the press and he hires the other.

The guy is real young. Then again, so was Davis, Madden, and Gruden who all did very well as young leaders. He did call plays for the Trojans though, so that *is* a big deal. I think Al was trying to get both of those USC guys. It is my opinion that he would have just made one O-Coord, and one HC. It would have been a good combo. I think that Sarkisian is probably just stoked that the play-calling duties are now his in USC - he gets to upgrade himself and his salary despite not taking the NFL job. Oakland vs. Tampa will be quite interesting given that Lane's dad is the D-Coordinator of the Bucs. Father vs. Son, Offense vs. Defense. Mark your calendars.

It?s amazing how people are jumping on the Raiders about this hire. The local media here in Green Bay and even Mike and Mike in the morning. At least give the guy a chance. He?s been around the game all his life being the son of a great defensive coach. He?s inheriting a very good Defense. He has the #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft with 2 potential future franchise QB?s waiting to be selected. It wouldn?t surprise me to see the Raiders get good again in the next 2 or 3 years assuming they?re patient enough with this coach to let him develop their young QB.
