    Leave it to Jerry Jones.

I spent the first part of this week sitting in my office writing down names - names that I heard the media throwing out as potential head coaching candidates for the Cowboys. Less than 48 hours later, I had 29 total. Yes, 29...excluding Jones himself [IMG].

Looking at the names on that list this morning, most of which I know I could cross off myself, I wondered out loud to a friend that knowing Jones, the next head coach isn't even on this list.

Enter #30 - Jason Garrett. For those that actually know him, Jason was considered a future head coach, even during his playing days as a career backup QB. He's got a likeable personality, and he has a sharp Princeton mind. He is currently the QB coach at Miami, and word is several teams are interested in him as an OC including Saban at Alabama. Somehow, Dallas has received permission to interview him. Word initially was that he would interview for an OC position, which seems odd without a HC, but that's Jerry. Evidently, he is also interviewing for the head job too. Many are speculating that is just to get an idea of the future, not now.

Semi-credible media outlets are speculating that if Garrett can call the offense, it would open up Dallas to look at a defensive HC like Wade Phillips. If not, it may be someone like Norv Turner.

I still think there is a lot of stuff to uncover and who knows what the smoke screens are. I do, however, find it both odd and intriguing that Garrett is being interviewed at this time if not for a HC position. That tells me something else is already in the works.

What? Jerry doesn't want to have absolute power?

Rumor, I heard, is; Wade Phillips as coach and Garrett as OC. JG told Nicky to get stuffed.

Yeah, I think Wade Phillips would be a good sign. I read in the newspaper that Phillips and Jerry Jones has had a little bit of history together and he likes the wa he plays the defense. And it's kinda obvious since they play a base 3-4 defense and maybe he can help DeMarcus Ware become his next Shawne Merriman, without the steroids.

It would also be nice to see the Chargers reshuffle their personnel with both their OC and DC gone.

Sounds like Norv Turner is leading by a nose and Phillips is coming in second. Singletary is making for a late push, but could end up as DC if Turner in hired.
