I don't recall anybody mentioning it but a couple of weeks ago there was a spectacular middleweight title fight between Jermain Taylor and Kelly Pavlik.
Taylor, the champion at 160 pounds, had gone to 12-round decisions in six of his last seven fights, which included two wins over the legendary Bernard Hopkins and one over Cory Spinks. "Bad Intentions" had been getting criticized for his last couple of bouts in which he looked listless and gassed after furious early rounds.
His opponent in September was Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik. Pavlik was 31-0 coming into the fight with nine straight (T)KO victories. The lanky pugilist from Youngstown defeated Edison Miranda and Jose Luis Zertuche to earn a shot at the WBC/WBO middleweight title.
I won't ruin it for you but if you get the opportunity to see a rerun or to download the fight online, do so. Great fight, great storyline, and a great finish.

I posted about it.
(Maybe wrestling should get it's own board, since it's neither "combat" nor "sport")
The judges tainted it somewhat.
The fight of the year so far is Vazquez-Marquez II, at least until November 3rd.
