I don't think Atlanta will make the playoffs this year, either. When I look at the East, I see Detroit, Chicago, Boston, Toronto, Cleveland, New Jersey, Washington, and Miami as the 8 playoff teams, with a chance of Orlando or New York stealing a spot. I think Atlanta will have a better year, I predict them to win between 30-35 games (I went with 32-50, ultimately), but it's going to be tough to steal a playoff spot from the teams I mentioned before.

What exactly do you expect? The Hawks are held back by incompetent management and horrible coaching.

If they get a new coach by mid December, then they have a real chance for the playoffs.

Thats right C-ball. In addition, it all relies on that PG situation they got there. All their pg's are very good at that position except stoudemire. One of them needs to guarantee that spot for them standing out from the rest. Otherwise they will have a different s/l every night. They need a consistent s/l.

Their Center position is pretty shaky too. but so is the celtics. We all know who the celtics have however.

Yea and they definitley need a coach who can help this team be more consistent.

I agree with what Chad Ford said actually (uh oh)

38 wins sounds about right, just outside the playoffs but it's still better than what it's been around here lately

I don't see what is so shocking about that. They've got a lot of young talent, but they've had that the past few years and haven't been able to get over the hump. They may be playing well in the preseason, but that doesn't mean too much when the games actually start counting.

If things click, they've got a shot to make it into the playoffs...but I wouldn't put them anywhere near a lock for making it.

Rick Bucher was on the radio yesterday, saying the Hawks are the suprise darkhorse this season.

Ric Bucher says a lot of things with that little grin of his, but I am being 100% honest when I say that nothing he has ever "reported" publicly has been true. I know what he said about Atlanta was just an opinion, but it's Ric Bucher...

Well, I've been thinking, and as much as I want the Hawks to make the playoffs, they most likely won't. I think there are much better teams, but they don't have the coaching or experience.

Yea, made the playoffs. Like I said, I love how everyone doubted us, and now we are in. We'll only improve even if we lose to Boston. I like our chances though. I don't feel we'll get owned so bad, that I can't watch. I think Atlanta will play loose, run and gun basketball with the mind set of "We're taking down a giant, no matter what".

Well if the Hawks had Mike Bibby before the season started, I would have predicted they would make the playoffs.

That trade was huge for the Hawks, so it isn't an apples to apples comparison.

Bibby was huge for the Hawks. An underrated, but great move. While everyone looks at how Gasol and Garnett helped so much, they'll miss how Bibby brought a huge plus for the Hawks.
