Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the Buffalo Bills have acquired Philadelphia Eagles DT Darwin Walker and an undisclosed draft pick in exchange for LB Takeo Spikes and QB Kelly Holcomb.

I heard awhile back that the Bills were thinking of trading Spikes. I read earlier today that talks were heating up and that the Giants might be the leading candidate as the deal for Al Wilson feel through.

As a phins fan, let me say how disappointed [IMG] I am that Clements and Spikes (both gave Miami fits) are now in the NFC.

Nice pickup for the Eagles. Spikes can still be a really solid player if he remains healthy.

Great job from the Eagles. I'd like to see what exactly were the conditions of that pick first, but I think it was a good trade. Darwin Walker had alot of trade rumors, and when I saw the Bills wanted to trade Spikes it just seemed perfect. The Eagles have tremendous depth at d-line, and it's sad to see a great guy like Darwin go. But they needed this, and hopefully Spikes and Kearse stay healthy. Now I can't wait to read the analysts try and tell me they said all along the Eagles were having a good offseason.

I like Darwin Walker. I don't see it as a bad deal for either team.

I agree. I guess trading Holcomb means JP is the real deal. Do I feel silly now? :surrender:

JP is solid but he's nothing like someone who used to post here made him out to be. Not like he's the reincarnation of Kenny Stabler or something...

Philly's DEF seems pretty stacked now. Maybe most talented DEF in NFL now.

Lucky for Kelly Holcomb He can finally play for a contender.......................well atleast when McNabb gets hurt

I'm not gonna say that JP Losman is the REAL deal, but I will say that's he's improved alot over the past two seasons. In November of 05, I went to a Bills/Panthers game, and the score ended up being 13-9, Panthers, because neither offense could do anything at all. Losman looked like he was having a panic attack every play. Granted, the Panthers defense is really good, so that could be the reasoning for that.

Then I went to the Bills/Titans game on Christmas Eve this past year and he looked like a completely different quarterback and just judging by the atmosphere, the Bills fans have alot more faith in him now then they used to. He's becoming a fan favorite instead of being the subject of several pitiful jokes like he was before.

In the end, I'm saying that Losman is a solid starter, nothing flashy, but he gets the job done, and he gives the Bills a chance at winning.

And yeah, I think this trade is being blown out of proportion. Takeo Spikes is a really good linebacker, when he's healthy. I just don't see him playing a whole season for the rest of his career. Holcomb is a solid back-up QB, so that's not a bad addition, and Darwin Walker fills a hole for the Bills. It's a good trade for both teams and alot of people think that the Bills could've got more for Spikes. But, I believe the reason that they didn't get more for Spikes is because both teams are worried about his injuries. We'll see what happens. Just like everything else in the NFL, it'll be interesting to see how it plays out for both teams.
