Utah has Ronnie Brewer, not Corey Brewer.

The predictions are interesting, but seem a bit unfounded, but I like them because it is what Warrior fans want to hear even if we know it's going to be an uphill battle without #2 playmaker/#3 scorer Stephen Jackson. [IMG] Monta Ellis is a turnover machine, but I hope for my sake he doesn't kill my fantasy line. He should be a hard to stop player if he can beat people or pull up on a dime which is what he does to earn the Gilbert Arenas comparisons (of course Gil is a bigger body and does so many more things as a guard). Ellis is a terrific on ball defender, but I hope he isn't outmatched by bigger, stronger opponents.

Okur can spread the floor and also post up so I wouldn't underestimate his offense (in Clif Robinson we trust because he was the guy saying we should have gone after Okur and forgotten Murphy). Maybe Harrington can neutralize some of these guys with his ballhandling ability and end-to-end foot speed.

To me, Carlos Boozer has above average passing ability (or else Utah wouldn't have signed him for so much) so I think double teams work in his advantage and the taller Utah Jazz offense can just shoot over the smaller players once they receive the pass. The Warriors basically have to play the passing lanes, chase after guys, and fight through screens or else once the Utah guys receive the ball can just calmly take the shot that the Warriors players aren't tall enough to contest.

I think the Warriors could win it if they attack the basket and shoot the ball well from outside. If they aren't doing either... we're so dead because you know the Warriors will get out-rebounded on both ends. If we can't secure the defensive rebound, then we have to play defense multiple times on their posession. We just can't stop guys who are too big and strong from laying it back in once they've moved the defense back. Then if we can't offensive rebound, we most likely will not be able to match Utah's shots on goal or find other ways to make something out of a 3 point miss or failed lay-up (which there might be plenty of).

I think Biedrins could be a big factor in this game because he's so much quicker than any of the Utah big players. The problem is he is not as strong. I'm hoping though that he can stay out of foul trouble and outwork the much slower Utah frontline. Typically, big ball wins against small ball, but maybe not in the regular season so much. I just think we're pretty much dead meat without Sjax unless Azu, Pietrus, or Belinelli step up. We already know what Baron, Ellis, Harrington, Barnes, and Biedrins can do.

The Warriors could be in for a lot of trouble on the boards.Utah were probably the best rebounding team in the league last season, grabbing 5.5 more rebounds per game than their opponents. They also have the size advantage. The Warriors have to limit the offensive boards they give up, Utah get a lot of easy points through them.

Matt Harpring is out injured, so Millsapshould see some more minutes at small forward than usual. The Jazz are usually strong to begin the season, they started 12-1 last season and haven't lost their opener since 02-03 so I'll think they'll take the win here.

I'm interested to see how RonnieBrewer goes as the starter in a proper game, he was tearing it up in preseason. Deron called him the best player in trainingcamp.

I wish I could see this game. I have not predictions for this game. It is usually difficult predicting the first game(s) of the season. Utah is a strong team. Brewer is really stepping it up. I am just hoping the Warriors come out and play a good game. If the Warriors do this and just get edged out by the Jazz, then I guess that is somewhat tolerable. I would love to see the Warriors kick some Jazz butt though.

And I too am so freaking happy that the NBA is starting so soon. Football in the Bay Area (though I am not there currently, though these are the teams I love) is just horrible right now. Cal, 49ers, and the Raiders are not doing well.

    Go Warriors!

I'm going to sit in the Golden State of Mind section.

What the W's have going for them is the crowd who will be totally jacked up. Hopefully Baron is on and Baron and Monta can penetrate at will and get easy open looks for Azubuike, Harrington and Belinelli. Defensively, just hoping that Millsap reverts to normal 2nd rd pick status, not Paul Silas and hopefully Boozer will be thrown off by Biedrins' quickness and length.

    I think Utah will win.

Warriors also have homecourt advantage so that might even it out considering the Warriors seem to do extremely well at home.

Have a great time at the game Phil!

Considering Boozer hasn't played all pre-season and the Warriors want revenge and are at the Oracle. I predict them to win. I suspect Utah to be rusty and won't have the luxury of preparing a defensive scheme to beat the Warriors.

Nice preview Monta. I like the inclusion of the video.

    True, but they're missing Jackson.

SJax isn't as needed against the Jazz because they don't rely on their SG or SF to get points. Kelenna has looked phenonemal in the pre-season so he should be playing with a lot of confidence.

Some things have changed: Azubuike taking over for JRich.

And some things have not: Warriors weak inside presence on D and rebounding. Inconsistent free throws. Live and die by the 3-ball.

Ouch tough loss for the Warriors. Azubuike seemed to start out hot with some points (which is extra good since I have him on my fantasy team). But then he faded away, and the Warriors just, from following the box scores fomr Yahoo, did not seem up to the level that Utah is at right now.

The Warriors were just missing way too many 3's and free throws. Early on they were getting great looks and attacking, but Utah's defense and their own haste caused themselves to collapse into one-man drives and alot of missed shots that turned into easy Utah points.

The Warriors can't compete with Jazz, and they'll lose again if they meet in the playoffs.

For anybody that watched this game, can somebody fill me in on what happened to Okur? I noticed on the box score that he played just 15 minutes tonight, so I'm assuming he got hurt. What happened, and how serious did it look?
