<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Brett Favre's agent Bus Cook phoned Green Bay's general manager Ted Thompson within two to three days of the draft and asked for a trade.</div>
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Favre asked McCarthy if he was aware that Cook asked for a trade but McCarthy immediately insisted that would not happen. McCarthy told others inside the organization it appeared the team's head coach had cooled Favre's anger?he has told friends on other teams as well how frustrated he is with the organization's inability to land the former Pro Bowl wideout and that he, in fact, wanted out.</div>
    Speaking subjectively, Forget Trent Green.

Ted T & Randy M are friends. I say a 4th Round pick in 08, a conditional 5th in 09, & the rights to Ricky W or the 4th rounder and Chris Chambers for Favre.

Basically all you'd have to do is offer about 5 late round picks in the next 3 years, and Thompson would jump all over it.

I seriously doubt this happens but if it does, serves the Packers organization right for not DOING ANYTHING in the off season. I dont think they should have screwed the future by going off ona Redskins like spree, but signing some decent offensive talent would have been good for now and the future, That Nickel back Frank Walker is lookin really good to favre right now im sure =/

I don't think Favre's going anywhere. The team won't trade him. He'll have to retire if he really wants out and I don't think he will.

In reading more about it, it sounds like Favre asked for the trade shortly after the draft and has since calmed down.

The thing that irritates him most, I think, is that the Packers really could have signed Randy Moss but they refused to guarantee his salary. Favre even offered to take a pay cut to facilitate the deal, but they couldn't get it done.

I do think that Favre has reason for concern, though. There still isn't a single proven running back on the roster and that would be enough to scare the crap out of me as well. Tight end situation completely blows and so does our receiver situation until week 4 when K-Rob gets off of his suspension.

It's no wonder Favre wants out...

Favre said this out of frustration. The News here in Green Bay covered it and they confirmed that he asked to be traded right after the Draft but had a meeting with McCarthy and that everything seems to be okay for now.

The Packers have said they aren't going to trade him. Favre I guess thought that Moss for sure was going to be a Green Bay Packer. He was going to restructure his contract and make it happen and Moss wanted to come here and it was going to be for a 4th round draft choice.

Then the deal just never happen. Reggie McKenzie the Packers director and a soon to be GM somewhere said the Packers were close but Moss made the decision to go to New England instead. Favre or his agent said that the Packers wouldn't pay Moss 3 million dollars and that lead to Favre wanting out.

So seems like a few things have come out and what it comes down to is Favre wanted Moss and was so sure that it was going to happen that when it didn't, he was so let down, that he just wanted to leave. I think this just is one big step in the loses the Packers have had this off season or so I say the lack of activity.

If the Packers go 9-7 that?s great and I think that makes the playoffs in the NFC. If they miss the playoffs then I think Favre could seriously make a serious push to want out of Green Bay next off season, if he wants to keep playing. John Clayton said something similar on ESPN News this afternoon.

I?m not worried now but it?s put up or get out for McCarthy and Thompson in my opinion. Let?s hope Thompson is as good as a scout that many have made him out to be.

Chicago is weaker... GB is weaker... The Vikes and Detroit got stronger... But they'll have an inexperienced QB... I could actually make the case that we actually have the best QB in the division, thats crazy... I am liking the way this is going... We may actually stand a chance this year if our defense can stay remotely healthy....

it'll never happen but it just shows how fusterated Favre is with the Packers and how they did nothing to help themselves this offseason. good luck this season packer fans *snicker snicker*

I think Moss actually wanted to sign with the Patriots all along, but his agent didn't think it was going to happen given the Patriot's offseason so far. It actually sounds like they were kind of surprised that it did happen.

If Moss wants to win now, then going with the Patriots is the right thing to do for him. Like it or not, the Patriots are closer to being the super bowl team than the Packers are.

What I can't understand is that the Packers were not willing to part with a 4th round draft pick for Moss. That's just ridiculous. If your franchise legend wants him as bad as he did, then a 4th round pick is hardly a huge price for what could have been an impressive duo.

I predict that Ted Thompson is about to go into "cover his ass" mode and sign a few free agents in the near future.

I know they're still talking to Keyshawn Johnson, but he can't decide whether he wants to play another year or go into the studio to be an analyst.

I'm still surprised that no one has signed Corey Dillon. Even if we could get a year out of him while we develop our young backs, I'd be excited just to have a a veteran presence in the backfield.

I think Favre is way better than Kitna unless you were making the assumption that he would be traded. Kitna is not that good and he never was that good. Put Favre on the Lions and they are 8-8 last year. Put Kitna on the Packers and they are 4-12. Simple as that.

It appears Favre stated he never asked for a trade so this may of been a hoax from the beginning.

Favre now denies asking for a trade, sounds like he is covering his ass a bit.

Personally, I don't blame him at all.
The Packers could have got a RB to take off the pressure
The Packers could have got a Randy Moss to take off the pressure
The Packers could have got a CB to take off the pressure

They didn't, I think when its all said and done, the Ted Thompson era is going to be seen as a dark one in the eyes of fans.

IDK, I thought Favre would retire after the season and it would have been smart to. Going another year with the Packers isn't the best decision and I doubt they can top or even match what they had last year.

I was looking to set up a poll, but I can't.

I want to find out how many think that Favre should hang it up right now.

Like I've said before, I'd rather see him in Canton than on the field as early as possible. The Packers are rebuilding and I doubt they can have another serious run at the playoffs within the
