http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3100835
Seems kind of shady to me. Maybe they just want money back any way they can for him sucking.

It seems kinda heartless to me. With actions like this, should teams be surprised when players don't show any loyalty later?

Coach Brad Childress told Twin Cities-area media following Thursday's practice that the decision was on a "business principle" of the Vikings organization.
Err... I wouldn't be associating the word "principle" with that decision if I were you, Brad. Sheesh.

Honest to god, who gives a shit. Troy Williamson has a $32 million dollar contract and $13 million guaranteed. I could maybe understand a little outrage if he was a practise squad player with no job security. Troy Williamson just lost his grandmother, the last thing he cares about is a couple game checks right now, so why should we make a fuss over it.

After re-considering, the Vikings have decided to pay him anyway.
The thing they were upset about wasn't that he missed the game, it's that he went AWOL for 9 days and told NO ONE in the organization where he was or what he was doing. So they were trying to set an example, then re-assessed their actions later.
