We all know he's a winner but is he overrated because of it? From a QB standpoint he's not that great of a passer. He does have some big runs at crucial times, but if you were starting a team would you take him as your QB?

I still say that a QB's job is to throw the football, otherwise he's a RB. It might be too early to say that Vince Young won't develop as a passer, but he needs to get busy. I wouldn't want him on my team. I just don't believe in sacrificing the forward pass for a few extra highlights on SportsCenter.

The Titans are winning because of a very good running game, special teams play, and defense. If VY could get his completion % up and not throw so many INts to TDs I'd be a little more confident in him as a qb. He's still young and can develop into a qb, and he's not like Vick. To me VY looks to pass first then run.

his teams winning games and he's a good leader. no way i'd take him ahead of Brady and Manning though.

Ok lets say you had to start your franchise with a qb and Manning and Brady are off the board. Who do you go with?
I'd say Carson Palmer, followed by maybe Romo?

I've been satisfied with his development. His rookie season, he had a 42.9% completion rate and so far this season he's at 61.5%. If he can continue to improve and progress as a passer, he's going to be great. He already has all the intangibles down. I don't really see Matt Leinart, Jay Cutler, or anyone else from that draft as being head and shoulders better than him but it's still early to say.

I don't think Vince Young is overrated. I liked Jay Cutler more in the draft, but I had Vince Young over Matt Leinart. I think Vince Young is progressing, but from watching him you can see he's still thinking too much and isn't comfortable in the pocket. Once the Titans get something resembling a good WR core, he will progress even more. But obviously he's not going to be a guy like Jay Cutler who puts up a ton of statistics.

I don't know that you should say hes a pathetic passer at this point. Remember he's only half the equation, he has nobody to throw the ball to. It's obvious that he's not your prototypical QB, but I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that he's Mike Vick #2 just yet.

The Titans win, often times, in spite of him.
Their defense and a solid enough running game (and special teams play) is what is winning them games. VY has a ways to go yet.

I dont think hes overrated, but thats because knowledgable fans know what he is....hes the worse passer starting for a team, but hes not the worst QB....if he learns from the struggles and improves, he will be really good at some point....he has to cut the ints out though, that stuff will get him benched sooner rather than later....

Being a quarterback is much more than just being the best statistical forward passer. Stat nerds and fantasy football coaches tend to be a little impatient with Vince because they want vince to win the office pool for them, and bash him when he doesn't. Let's return to reality for a moment. You have to be a captain on the field, and manage the offense. From what I have seen, he can do that effectively, and is a great leader for his team. His completion average and yards per pass average fall somewhere in the middle when compared to his peers around the league.
Yes, the Titans play great defense. Which quarterback would you have rather had on your 2001 Baltimore Ravens team? Trent Dilfer or Vince Young? Does it matter in the big picture?
I think that after all that has been said here, Vince is an NFL quarterback who is quite new, was sucessful at the highest level of college football, and is only just beginning to make his way along his NFL career. Way too early to count him out.

I was skeptical of VY coming out of college. But, his potential as a QB then and accomplishments to dateare as good asanything Ron Mexico has ever or will ever hope to achieve.

Vince young is not a pathetic passer, he has a pathetic recieving core and doesnt make great reads yet.

He's got a lot of evolving he needs to do, last weekend was a perfect example of how terrible he really is. The Chargers' didn't allow Vince to get out of the pocket and take of running once, and it completely killed his confidence. He makes the worst reads in the league, throwing an interception right to Antonio Cromartie...and even worse, throwing the ball perfectly to Matt Wilhelm, who was 5 yards from Vince. I've seen HS QB's make far better reads than Vince.
He may know how to win games, but it's because of his feet. Once teams figure that out, like the Chargers did...and like what happened with Mike Vick, he won't be able to beat them on the ground. Sooner or later he's going to have to learn how to read a simple damn defense and make good throws.
His stats are god aweful, btw. 7 TD's and 16 INT's??? A QB rating of 66.9? A career 66.8 rating with 19 TD's and 29 INT's? The guy seems like a perfect back up QB.

Just because he can win doesn't make him a good QB, it makes him a good impact player. He has a lot of flaws that he needs fixed.
