Congrats. So, this is for the Febuari term, right? Would you happen to know about around what time you need to submit your application to start in the July term, in normal Australian universities? The reason I'm asking is because I plan to go there to study myself... I haven't looked at all schools and towns yet, but I'm thinking about Adelaide... Need a few opinions from other people on it first though.</p>

shit i totall forgot i made this thread, well thanks for the congrats guys, i also got into 2 courses at the VCA, which artists like bill henson went to (he is australias top photographer and makes like millions a year from his work). the 2 ones at VCA are photography and painting, but im sticking with photography at RMIT. i just called them today so im in! hell yeah man im fukin excited about this year. oh and i just had my 18th birthday on new years day, so im over the moon right now. um someone asked what kind of photographs i take or am hoping to take? well i hope to become an artist, i think i have a pretty good opurtunity at becoming successful, i have won alot of awards this year for my work. i hope to also work commercially, you know, to pay the bills. so yeah bahir i dont know when you need to apply for the second semester but you can contact the schools your hoping to go to by finding there websites. you should come to school in melbourne though, adelaide kinda stinks, they have really bad water and melbourne is just about the best city in the world for uni courses. in my arts course i am allowed to go to another uni for one of my electives, which is really cool. my girlfriend is doing the same course as me, she;s doing an elective at melb uni, which is like the top academic uni in australia, you shouldd go there if your grades are good enough.

If your school has a good basketball team or basketball atmosphere at the games it is so much fun, thats why I didnt want to go 2 a small school without any athletic program , so I went to NC State. There is nothing better than an ACC basketball game, I have tickets for the Clemson game, I hope i can get ones to see the tarheels get upset.

I've never been to the campus let alone the gym but judging form what I see of it on TV it looks like a high school gym. Good atmosphere it seems though (probably abnormally good since their team is great this year). Of all of the colleges I applied to they definitely have the best basketball team. Not to mention its not too far from home but still far enough away. Nice academics, I'm sure there will be plenty of partying even though they're not renowned for it.

I'm still waiting on 9 other schools but good to know I got into a pretty damn solid school. I've been doing a bit more research on St. Mary's and they're very small and expensive as hell. Anyone know what I could expect for financial aid?

Unless you are a minority and parents combined income is less than 100K, you can expect very little significant financial aid unless you are a genius or an athlete or in the band. Its much easier to get money for private schools than public, but in comparison the state supported schools are much cheaper even with the little financial aid you may receive from private schools.

My advice if money is a big issue, go to a state school, unless you have a very unusual major that requires you to go a private school like art or religion.

Thanks for the info. My CalGrant info for the private schools came back and said I would get almost 10K in grants if i went to a private school. I'm in St. Mary's but haven't heard back from Santa Clara or USD yet.

I also got into Santa Cruz today. Go banana slugs! California schools are INSANE to get into this year. I got denied from SDSU, they said 61,000 people applied there and they accepted 7,000. The average GPA of the person they accepted was a 3.77. Just last year their average freshman was more like a 3.2. Also got denied from UC Davis which wasn't a huge surprise since I got rejected from SDSU. That being said I know my grades and SAT scores are a lot better than most of the people I know who got in a few years ago but like I said this year is nuts. 41,000 kids applied there.
