Utah Jazz general manager Kevin O’Connor announced today that the team has acquired forward Kyle Korver from the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for guard Gordan Giricek and a protected first-round pick. NBA.com
Good trade for both teams. Sucks that Utah got a deadly shooter though, he'll help them a lot. Philly gets a salary dump and a first round pick, Giricek can produce for them in the meantime as well.
I like this from Philly's perspective. Korver's played terrible this season and his contract really is unreasonable. I'd have made the deal for the salary dump alone, but getting the first round pick is a bonus.
It's a pretty interesting one. If Korver plays the way we all know he can, the Jazz have got themselves a pretty good player - I'm sure that's what their hoping. But if he doesn't, Philly have done really well for themselves, and could get a decent player with their late 1st pick. I like it more for Philly though, since Korver just hasn't been feeling it this year.
This is a move Philly had to make because now they have around 10 mil to spend this summer on free agents without having to renounce the rights to Louis Williams or sign Iggy and/or Louis Williams. RFAs still count against a team's cap until they are signed or their rights are renounced.
I like this move. Jazz lead Gira and all his issues and get another white shooter who can't play defense. thats seems to be the qulifications to play with the Jazz today.
