I just responded to a post similar to this, but I wanted to start a new topic. Do any of you guys even watch the Pro Bowl??? Is there a point? Is it like the NBA All Star game or is that different. I mean...if you were a professional, popular player like Brady, LT, or Manning...would you play in the Pro Bowl? I mean, how much would it SUCK if you decided to play and got injured during that game?? Yea, I'd be pretty upset...What do you guys think?

They need to get rid of exhibition football. The investments are not worth the risk, and the risks are very high. Football is the one sport where the all star game should not actually be played. The game is too dangerous as it is, and players get seriously injured all the time. The only time the players should be risking it is if the games actually mean something. I am in favor of less exhibition games - preseason or pro bowl. They should definitely give out awards for the Pro Bowl players, MVP's, rookies of the year, and any other award that they want, but it should just be on paper only. How dumb is it to watch the best players in the league not playing at 100%, not hitting each other at 100%? All they do is jog around the field and do light tackling. I couldn't believe that they had so many people in the stands, who probably paid good money to watch that garbage. They might as well have a boxing match and tell the fighters not to punch each other in the face.
I must admit I'd have a hard time justifying an injury incurred in a Pro Bowl game. There are other ways of honoring the players who were selected. In answer to your question, No, I dont usually watch past the introductions, and have recently had only Shane Lechler to cheer for anyway. It's almost like the Hall of Fame game in August. They don't really need to play a game in order to get those men inducted in Canton.
I didn't even know it was on yesterday. I found it during the commercial break of the Lakers/Heat game when I was flipping through the channels. I probably watched like a minute of it
I watched the First quarter. Peyton doesn't cheat his fans either, he's played in every single Pro-Bowl he's been selected to. That takes some dedication. I certainly wasn't interested in watching Derek Anderson in the second half though.

QUOTE (shookem @ Feb 11 2008, 06:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

i watched... what can i say it was a slow sports day?
There were four NBA TV games on yesterday. Two on ABC and Two on ESPN. I guess they weren't shown in Canada that sucks. I didn't even know the Pro-Bowl was on until I saw this thread. I think the only people who watch this game are people who have wagered on it. There's been a lot of rumors and suggestions on how to change the Pro-Bowl, but I haven't heard anything that would get me to watch it. Skills competition? Play for charity? Schedule it the week before the Super Bowl? Move the venue out of Hawaii to a larger arena and larger market?
I watched the Lakers vs. Heat game. Bleh to the NFL Pro Bowl, though apparently Adrian Peterson tore things up yesterday.
I tried to watch it, but I failed. I thought it was on earlier in the day, so I kept looking for it and all I found was NASCAR. I ended up watching a movie instead and just reading about the game this morning.
They changed something about where you can tackle people, like inside what lines... I don't remember exactly. But someone on a different forum said the rule change was basically why the NFC won. I don't know, I think maybe it would be better to move it to mid season. It could be more fun then, rather than just an after thought. I really wanted to see LT play in the Pro Bowl though... I was searching for YouTube vids of him and found a lot of great clips! Here are some cool ones, though, that are like mini documentaries with interviews and clips from his TCU days too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3xv_TAWrvo (Part 1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XPBb1md9HU (Part 2)

I watched about 10 minutes of it, very boring. The only reason I put it on was because it was a commercial of the NBA game I was watching.

I watched the first half. The game was missing Sean Taylor, that guy played 100% every game.

Well... went to the free NFL Experience-type deal on Friday. Lots of vendors, a few cheerleaders, a couple of old-timers, and a couple of players... Hardly worth the walk from the parking lot. Went to the free practice session a the stadium on Saturday. The swap meet ringing the stadium ran on schedule, so the day wasn't a total loss. Also, the cheerleaders wandered the swap meet for shopping and were plenty eager to sign autographs and take pictures (if you were into cheerleader autographs). Swap meet rocked though. Whatever you can get at a gift shop was available much cheaper there. Went to the game on Sunday. Tailgate was much more involved than I thought it would be. Everyone got along great, and flags from most teams were in evidence. The game is what you would expect it to be... a slightly elevated version of two-hand touch. That's the most I've seen of any Pro Bowl in memory. I'd go again, but only because it's cool the way that the players that actually show up treat all the fans at the hotels and around town. Though I didn't stay in a hotel or in town. I had connections.
