haha he must feel like a total assface after denying it over and over again, and then trying to whine, and wallow in self-pity as if he's the poor victim who the media is trying to kill.

Forget the asterisk, solid proof should get rid of any doubt and send his stats outta here.

Well he did put up a nice defense for himself though. He never "knowingly" took steroids.

EDIT: I'm probably going to need a GM or Commish to edit the thread title.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>SAN FRANCISCO -- Federal prosecutors mistakenly filed court papers Thursday that incorrectly stated that Barry Bonds failed a steroids test in November of 2001 -- one month after breaking the single-season home run mark.

U.S. attorney spokesman Josh Eaton now says that the reference in Thursday's government court filing regarding Bonds testing positive was actually referring to a November 2000 test that was previously disclosed in the indictment of Bonds and had already been reported.

In December, Bonds pleaded not guilty to lying to a federal grand jury in 2003 when he denied using performance-enhancing drugs.

The mistake prompted a flurry of reports on television and Web sites -- including ESPN.com -- around the country.

The filing amounted to federal prosecutors defending their questioning of Bonds before a grand jury, and urging a judge to keep the slugger's perjury prosecution on track.

Bonds had argued that the questions posed to him by prosecutors were ambiguous and confusing. He demanded that the five-count indictment charging him with lying to a grand jury be tossed out. Bonds has pleaded not guilty.

In the filing, prosecutors said Bonds was specifically told before he began testifying in 2003 that he could consult with his lawyers or ask for a question rephrased if he ever got confused.

"Bonds never said he was confused or asked the prosecutor to rephrase a question," the government's filing stated.

Instead, they said their questions left no doubt that they were asking Bonds about his drug use and his relationship with personal trainer Greg Anderson.

Prosecutors said "as the evidence at trial will show, each count charges that Bonds repeatedly lied in answering the same question or questions on the same subject matter."

The matter will be the subject of a court hearing Feb. 29.</div>

lmao. Thought they finally got him.

Anyone else think its pathetic how badly people want this guy to get tore down? I'm a Giants fan but not really a Bonds fan. We all know he did it. Its amazing the ferocity people have toward him yet for all those years they turned a blind eye toward Clemens.

We've put more time, money, and effort into getting this guy than we did Osama Bin Laden.

They even let Clemens seduce and ask the members of the committee out on a date. Well not really but it was heading in that direction.

I agree with you Run, it's pathetic how they want to crucify this guy. There are other players out there, Bonds wasn't the only one. If you want to crucify anyone, make it Selig. He knew about this shit, but he turned the other cheek because the steroid era brought baseball back into the limelight.

Yeah for real. Can you imagine them letting Bonds walk around and ham it up with the Congressmen? LMAO.

Its strange how they're in almost identical situations. Both great players in their early days, both made huge, unnatural surges late in their careers and became the best players at their positions in their era and perhaps the history of the league. Their bodies look identical. Bonds has always been a prick and Clemens has always been the golden boy of NY/Boston/Texas media. Both hold tons of major records. Now both are at the center of the steroid controversy. The reaction to Bonds is and always has been extremely aggressive, negative, brutal, unrelenting. The reaction to Clemens has sort of been stunned silence and it was even forgotten almost completely for a while there because of the Patriots and super bowl and whatnot. Ever since he got outed it seems like people have been less harsh on Bonds.

Clemens being nabbed has changed the culture of the whole thing. Before peopel were just planning on catching Bonds and giving him the brunt of the blame for this mess. Now they got the Golden Boy and hes making a pathetic defense for himself. People have STFU and sort of just stopped talking about it.

We all know they did it. I have no solution as to what to do with the records but there were TONS of fools on steroids in the last few decades. Baseball is just a joke in general. They get away with murder somehow even though they're probably the worst of the three major sports as far as character goes. How many times do you see a bench-clearing brawl in baseball? Few times a month? In the NBA when a couple guys get into a scuffle it makes major headlines and the people involved are called thugs. MLB skippers regularly call for pitchers to throw 100 mph fastballs at batters but in NBA or college ball if a coach tells their player to deck a guy they're going to be fired and piled on by the media.

Ridiculous double standards for "america's passtime" (why does it still have this name when football clearly dominates the country?). I won't even get into the ridiculous advantage large market teams have due to the lack of salary cap restrictions. Why do we even have more than 10 teams in the league? You know NY, Boston, Chicago and LA are going to get every single big name player in free agency.
