<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Los Angeles Lakers announced today that the team will be changing their names after the final game of the 2007-2008 season. "After the final game of this season we will officially be changing our name from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Los Angeles Annihilators," said Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa at a press conference with Laker coach Phil Jackson. "The name change is to coincide with our plans of complete and utter annihilation of any opposing team that we are going to face this post-season and the there-after," said Jackson. The current Lakers are indeed turning heads, even with two hurt stars, the Lakers are at the top in the West. "By the end of the season we will get two of our stars back and the annihilation will began," said Jackson. Indeed the team is short Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum, both players are among the very best at their positions. The team has seemed nearly unstoppable even without the two stars as the league's greatest star has put the team on his shoulders and kept them at the top in the West. "Oh yeah, and we've got Kobe," concluded Jackson.</div> Link Oh snap! Say it ain't so!
Finally this change was long overdue. It's a good idea, Lakers as a team name doesn't even make sense for LA.
Seriously, it looks like a five year old wrote it. If you want good satire, stick to The Brushback. http://www.thebrushback.com/carry_full.htm

lol. Someone actually believed LA would change their name? The Lakers team name is LEGENDARY! LOVE EM OR HATE EM!!! haha
Wow, terrible satire. If the Lakers ever changed their name, that'd be a travesty. Next to the Yankees and maybe the Celtics, they're probably one of the most recognizable names in sports.
