    Horrible season (way too inconsistent)
Many major melt downs (game 4 against orlando) He didnt even do hack-a-shaq (on howard) so that raps could get the win!!!!!!
Can not perform well under pressure (game 2 against orlando), he does not have the ability to draw plays that will get the win.
Last but not least (for sure not least) 2 years of not being able to get past first round (unless we have a mircle and win next 3 games!)

    Last statement:
Raps have a deep bench, enough talented players, but yet raps have not develped them enough so that when they come in they dont give up many points. Smitch did not use players like maceo baston or kris hump as much, why? maceo baston is a good rebounder (he can atleast box out and rebound unlike AB) and it is the same deal with Kris.

    That was last season,
    Points this season:
No excuse - all your players are healthy JO is healthy team shows that it could win, yet you CANNOT COACH UNDER PRESSURE
WHY WHY WHY? Players are having excellent night (Joey G against boston) yet you take em out in the middle of the game for no REASON
WAYYYYY TOO Soft - Never reacts never gets under his players' skin

Im kind of on the fence on firing Mitchell, I wouldn't mind if Colangelo gave him one more year to see if he can get them deeper in the playoffs but I would kindof like a new coach because there seems to be a deep talent pool of head coaches available this off-season. Also with Bargnani's rate of development under Mitchell, we cant really afford for him to take another step back next season like he has this season.

A Coach of the Year winner doesn't happen very often. Like the Utah Jazz haven't had a coach who has won the COY in 20 years.

Coach of the Year? Like Avery Johnson and Mike D'Antoni, who are also probably going to be fired this summer? It doesn't mean much, really.

The biggest hang-up is MLSE picking up the tab for Smitch's leftover salary.

I don't think the roster had the talent to be a factor in the playoffs this year but this team has bottomed-out so many times under Smitch that I think he has little left to offer. I mean, we have had so many inexcusably miserable performances in the last few years that I can't count them all.

He's not horrible but he's not very good. I'd try to find a replacement if I were Toronto.

it depends who he'd be replaced with. i'm not down with an O'Neil or anything but if there's someone quality, waiting in the wings that'd be cool.

Give Jay a shot, he has a 1000 per cent winning percentage as a HC of an NBA team.

What do you honestly think of Jay as an NBA head coach, shook? I know you're more familiar with the national team than anybody else on this site and probably have a better idea of what kind of coach he is. I've heard some people really praise him, but I'm not sure what to believe.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>After the Raptors went down 3-1 to Orlando on Saturday, sources said Colangelo flipped out over learning that Mitchell played a round of golf the following day. Mitchell was left to wonder who snitched, and on and on it goes. They are such different people, with different backgrounds and Mitchell’s belief system, rooted in old-school American basketball, never has meshed with the GM’s Euro philosophy.

Colangelo told reporters in Toronto on Tuesday that he didn’t plan on making a coaching change “at this time,” an endorsement. For now, the two years and guaranteed $9 million left on Mitchell’s deal make him tough to fire.

Colangelo tried to lowball Mitchell on a contract extension a year ago, but the threat of the NBA coach of the year leaving Toronto for Charlotte or Indiana eventually earned Mitchell his extension. Yet New York Knicks GM Donnie Walsh loves Mitchell, an old Pacer, and is closely monitoring circumstances in Toronto. Walsh has been leaning toward Mark Jackson throughout his search process, but suddenly a five-game loss to Orlando in the Eastern Conference playoffs and the crumbling relationship with Colangelo could make Mitchell a candidate for a Raiders-Buccaneers Gruden-esque trade with the Knicks.</div>

What's wrong with Larry Brown? He's a great defensive coach and he's great with young guys. I'd give him a shot, but obviously, the Bobcats took him already.

LB is a good coach, he's just a nutter. Not what this team needs.

Can't we just clone Gregg Popovich?

he's probably too nice of a guy and may have issues dealing with NBA sized ego's but he's always done well with what he has had.

    1) Good luck to babcats, 2) did you see what he did wth new york? raps dont have a championship team yet, so he'll contnously change the starting line up and screw up the team chemistry
