<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Bochy called his pitcher into his office after the game to notify him that he may be sent to the bullpen or have his next start skipped.

"We can't keep doing what we are doing. We need to get together and get a game plan on what we think is best," Bochy said. "I'm sure there's a lot on his mind. He's got a lot of pride and he's taking this harder than anybody."</div>

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Part of Bochy's plan to possibly skip Zito's spot in the rotation derived from the solid performance by rookie Pat Misch, who was recalled prior to the game. Misch pitched six solid innings in relief of Zito, allowing just two runs on five hits.</div>

Three innings, eight runs, seven hits.

I'm trying to think of a worse contract in the history of the MLB. There have been plenty of bad ones, but none that paid a player nearly this much. I thought he had a chance to bounce back this year and at least be a decent third starter, but I guess that was asking too much for a guy who's going to make $116 million the next six years.

Misch was a guy that had an outside shot at the rotation in early spring training this year, so we might as well see what he can do.

    Zito is starting tomorrow

Not a lot of other options considering how much stinkin money this guy is making and that Correia is injured as well. It would be nice to have Noah Lowry at some point this season, but he's apparently back at square one and won't be throwing again anytime soon.

I really don't understand Zito. His offspeed stuff is good, the only problem is there enough of a difference in speed between fastball/offspeed. He's NEVER been injured and he's only 29. I fail to see a reason why there would be such a dropoff in his velocity.

Didn't he change his throwing mechanics again this season? I thought I heard them talking about it on the radio during training camp.

They shouldn't have let him change it when he initially came over from Oakland.

I remember last year he did in spring training. Not sure about this year. I think I remember reading about him trying different pitches in his bullpen sessions, but I don't really think he can re-invent himself. I guess it's worth a shot if nothing else works.

I believe that Zito was experimenting with a new windup and/or delivery last spring, but the Giants insisted that he scrap it. Smart move.

BTW, I like Correia and hopefully he'll be back soon.

I thank God, the mets didnt get him. Last thing we would've needed is a Free-agent bust like the millions in our history.

He has pitched much better since coming back from the bullpen. Yesterday he only gave up three runs in six innings. The start before that he only gave up two runs, but was taken out after 5 innings. He's not pitching deep into games, but his ERA is going down a little at least. Looks like he is taking baby steps trying to right the ship and I'm not going to completely give up on the guy (like I have a choice). Maybe the best thing to come out of this is that people stop saying he is the ace and give that title to someone that is pitching well, like Lincecum.
