As much as I'd like to quit watching the NBA entirely, that will never happen. I love basketball too much. I don't know if I'll root for another NBA team again unless I move somewhere else with a local team. Even then, it won't be the same. I know I'll never, ever root for the Trailblazers, and it's adding insult to injury considering how good they're going to be.

So, I'll still be watching. But I'll never look at the NBA the same way again. What about you guys?

Same man, I can't imagine myself being a fan of another team. You can't just hop to another team once yours is gone, it feels wrong. I'll probably still watch the NBA with interest but not root for anyone. I'll be rooting for B-Roy in Portland, and if they make the playoffs i'll root for them but theres no way I could get as attached.

I'm a fan of 3 main teams so even though it sucks to see them leave I wont be at a complete loss.

I understand where you guys are coming from but lets not blow this out of proportion. Were we ever rooting for a team simply because of where they play? No, we rooted for the players, the coaches etc. Even when GP got traded, did that make people stop rooting for the team? No, it took time for us to grow to like the new players but they were still our team. Same thing now, you can't stop watching the NBA or rooting for a team simply because of a change of location.

Who made the team what it is? Seattle fans, OKC fans have done nothing. It is their team in location only.

I have to completely disagree with you Jurassic. Of course you root for players on the team you like, but a team represents a city, an area, a state. People grow up going to games and living in the culture that team creates in their area. It is way way more than just liking players on a team. Not to mention, who in Seattle wants to root for a team that was built for another city and stolen from theirs? It's not like Seattle kicked the Sonics out and someone else took them. A man from another city said "hey this team should play in my city" and stole it. That fact alone should make it very hard for anyone to still root for that team. The Sonics were more than a team, they were a major part of alot of people's lives.

If I was a Sonics fan in their situation I probably would have a hard time rooting for the Sonics, especially if they change names and colours. I would try to still follow the NBA though and get a couple new fav teams.

After getting emotionally attached to a certain team and following it for years, it isn't easy to root for a different team. If I were in their situation, I probably wouldn't be able to find a new favorite. I would still follow the league, though.

Same sorta, I'm a fan of 2 teams: One in the West, one in the East, although mainly the Nets because they're (about to be) in NY.

And I don't think anyone who was a fan of Seattle can root for the OkC team. It's like that team was stolen away. I mean, really, who would want to root for Clay's team? Screw those guys.

Seattle is a huge market and Oklahoma is small, which makes this all the more stupid.

At the very least it can not be the Oklahoma Sonics. How about the Oklahoma Rednecks, lol?

You need a team Seattle, or it's like the NFL with no LA team. It shows there is something very wrong with the economics of sports and of the NBA in particular. (Jeez, and to think I do sports in part to get away from real economics!)

There should be teams in St. Louis, Baltimore, San Diego, and perhaps Las Vegas, too.

    Have a good 4th y'all.

Attendance will go up in Oklahoma City. There's no doubt about it. Anyone who saw the Hornets play from 05-07 knows how supportive that fan base is. They were the only team in town, and the new Sonics team is the only team in town.

But really, I feel bad for you guys. Hopefully they start a team there after next season. (for '09/'10)

I was really pissed when they made this move official. The key figures behind this deal sold 41 years of Seattle Sonic history for a mere $45Million. Plus you have Stern playing the ultimate douchebag role in his evaluation of the Key Arena. Originally he said it wasn't up to par with NBA standards, but when Ballmer inquired about purchasing the team Stern did a 180 on the stadium. Too little, too late of course and one of the historic franchises in the league gets shipped off to Oklahoma City of all places?

I heard there was rally of 3000 people including former and current NBA players included Gary Payton & Spencer Hawes.

Shame on the NBA for allowing this to take place.

I'll still follow the progress of Durant and Green, and I hope they both walk at the end of their rookie deals. Probably won't happen but I can only hope. I'll follow guys like Collison and Watson because I've become attached to them.

But the NBA in general? I doubt it.

    **** you Stern.

I don't doubt it. I'm friends with Spencer Hawes on Facebook (lol) and he's in a number of Save The Sonics groups.

I'm done with the Sonics. I hope that whatever team is in Oklahoma finishes with the worst record in the league, picks fourth in the draft every season, and loses every lottery pick in free agency.

I will always be a fan of the NBA as long as there are players that are intriguing enough for me to watch. But in terms of pulling for any NBA franchise you can forget it. It's amazing that my two favorite franchises in sports both have relocated -- Cleveland Browns and the Sonics.

The NBA has some serious problems that they have to address. The model for a successful NBA franchise is tremendously flawed. There are only a few NBA teams that are prospering both financially and on the court. Memphis, Sacramento, New Orleans, and Indiana are all struggling franchises that could end up with different ownership in the near future. The reality of the economics system in the NBA is ridiculous. I never thought that I would say this but I can easily see why people can't stand the NBA. I'm not at that point yet -- but with a situation like this it is really making me distance myself from embracing a league that couldn't care less about their fans.

Great listen from Mike Kahn too. He knows what is going on.

Maybe another NBA Seattle team will be made. Charlotte lost their team to New Orleans, but they have a new team now. Maybe the same could happen to Seattle.

Even before the Seattle move, I always wondered how it would feel for your favorite franchise to move. Luckily I'm a fan of the New York teams and the market is way too big for them to move, even during the bad times.

Why not follow the OKC [insert team name] though?

I have decided that we, the fans, should not take this sitting down. Lets start another Civil War. I'll be Ulysses S. Grant.

    It worked before, right?
