Only one thing needs to be said about this. And this is the way it's always been and always will be. If you have to say your the best, you're not. Simple as that.

I don't think Thrilla is the best, I am the best. There is a line that separates being presumptuous and self confidence. I do not cross that line but I have great deal of self confidence.

Hey Paul, drop 80 points on a team, and get an MVP award. Then say that.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. How about just work on his skills a bit first, at least learn how to shoot without looking like a shotput athlete.

Replace Garnett, Allen, Rondo and Posey with Kwame, Parker and Cook, and try to make it back into the playoffs Paul!

Lol, Paul Pierce is good, but not good enough to be saying he's the best.

Would Phil Jackson be coaching and Odom and Bynum would also be on the team?

Pierce looked like the better player throughout the playoffs. It's hard to argue with the Celtics' results in the regular season, too.

But the playoffs! The guy basically played PG and hit a wide variety of shots, many very difficult ones to make. He had a lot of assists, too. He didn't disappear in the finals, either.

Being a better player also means individual ability, skill-level, work-ethic, etc. Kobe is more fundamentally sound as compared to Pierce, harder working, and just overall a lot more polished. Kobe's defence is also superior to Pierce.

This is fake. I doubt he really said that. Translations don't come out 100 percent correctly.

Only a couple short years ago, Shaq was ready to annoint D Wade as the best player in the NBA, and the next MJ. The guy had a great season after Shaq joined up, and had a terrific finals performance. My, how times change.

The Celtics had a great team effort, especially on defense in the Finals. Up until about halfway through the Conference Finals, we were all wondering if they would choke in the two previous 7-game series. Where was Paul during those games? I seem to remember Ray Allen and KG picking up the slack.

Yes, just imagine the 06-07 Lakers team replaced with Pierce.
