<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The move of Josh Childress to Olympiacos has encouraged many speculations about NBA stars coming to Europe. One of the recent ones was an idea posted by American journalist. According to him Olympiacos could make an offer to LeBron James in 2010 when his contract runs out. Kobe Bryant wouldn't mind going overseas if the right offer comes either.

Last season's NBA MVP was answering journalists' questions after USA - Russia game (Americans won it 89:68). Kobe Bryant was asked if there is a chance that he would continue his career outsite United States.

    "Of course," Kobe Bryant said.

His father once played in Italy so Bryant was asked if it would be Italy.

"Italy, Greece, Russia...", said Kobe showing that he is not ruling a move to any country if he receives a good offer.

Now the managers of the big clubs in Europe could be wondering what would it take to bring one the brightest NBA stars to their team. The answer is simple - 40 million dollars.

"40 million a year and I am here. There's nothing simpler", concluded Lakers star.</div>

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Kobe Bryant admitted over the weekend that he would consider leaving the NBA for Russia if a sizable contract could be arranged, according to The Sport Express Daily.

"Of course," Bryant said when asked if he'd consider playing overseas. "By the way, are you the owner of a Russian team? It can be arranged for $40 million per year."

A number of NBA players have left the NBA for Europe this offseason, in a somewhat surprising turn of events. It's highly doubtful that Bryant would ever actually sign with a Russian team, but anything could become possible for the right price.

It seems as though everyone wants a piece of Kobe though.

"I would love Kobe to come to Duke University to play for me," added Team USA coach Mike Krzyzewski. "I can't offer him that kind of salary, but he would receive a university diploma instead."</div>

If he isn't kidding around, I wouldn't rule out seeing Kobe Bryant in Olympiakos or CSKA red after his contract runs out.

That would be pretty crazy. It's one thing for these mid/lower level players heading over there, but it'd be very interesting to see if one of the really big name guys could be pulled over

Well, he's already won 3 championships and an MVP in the NBA. I don't really see much stopping him from going overseas.

Although, I will think he's a giant douchebag if he did.

I was thinking of writing my own piece on this issue, still might, speculating on stars who might go to Europe in the future. Kobe is probably the most likely, even before he made this statement. If you think about it it really makes a lot of sense. There a few more marketable players in the League, he is arguably going to be on the decline before too long, he stands to make a hell of a lot more in Europe in the future and he did grow up in Europe.

Think Kobe's staying in the US if he's only offered $39M?

    40 million a year?

    Jesus...

That's like double what he's making now. Hell I'd leave too if I were offered that much money. Doubt somebody actually comes up with that dough

I wouldn't be surprised if more than one team makes him an offer that big. Many big Euroleague teams are owned by super rich oligarchs and rich families, who don't mind huge hits to their bank accounts as long as their favorite team wins titles.

If Euro clubs are willing to dish out that much money, then I definitely expect some top tier free agents to leave for Europe during the 2010 offseason

I take his word on this issue, though more so in the twilight of his career. It would be hard for me to imagine him walking away from such a strong contender, while he is still close to his prime.

If he left without winning another NBA title it would eat at him eventually. I don't personally care about rings as much as other people, but Bryant certainly does.
