    This thread is no different from "Who's the Greatest SG of All-Time?" There is a right answer and then there are a bunch of other great players that a case can be made for if you don't mind people staring at you with a skeptical look on their faces.

    That isn't close to be representative of the gap

    LT wasn't as good as Giants fans think

    LT = Jordan, Gretzky, Woods

    Lambert = Pippen, Messier, Player

    Wrong, there is no consensus or right answer

    There are a several linebackers I'd take over LT, including Ray Lewis

    That is the biggest piece of bullshit you've ever posted ghoti.

    LT is nowhere close to that class

    I don't think LT was that kind of game changer, either.

    How many superbowl rings?

    I'd have to say Ray Lewis. The man is a beast.

    LT is definitely in that class. Ray Lewis is better than any of the others mentioned, but he's not at Taylor's level either. He was nowhere near as dominant or as versatile.

    I'm glad this thread was started, because obviously the media didn't hype LT nearly enough. Well, now you know. LT was just as talented as Jordan or Gretzky. He was the biggest defensive game changer ever.

    When you're talking Gretzky, you're talking about a guy who came in and destroyed all the records in the record book and radically changed the game. Not even Jordan is in his class.

    How many rings for LT?

    LT played the run and pass well. When the quarterback drops back to pass, you are either rushing him or covering a receiver. Just because he happened to be rushing the passer and not in coverage doesn't mean we can't crown him as one of the all time greatest. I watched him play. "I" think he is.

    How many HOF did LT play with in his entire career on offense or defense? One? Name any Giants CB or Safety from the 80s.

    He is a game changer in the sense that you have to plan around the guy on every play. He demanded more attention from the offense than any other player on their defense.

    How many Superbowl rings does Butkus have? That is not a good measurement for whether LT is one of the greatest. Some of the greatest players in history never went to the Superbowl, even if they played during the last 40 years.

    I'm not suggesting Butkus is in the class of Jordan or Gretzky or Tiger.

    BIG difference :)

    To be in that class, he'd have to triple the previous record for tackles and interceptions, or carry a team with maybe 1 more HOFer to championships and his team dominate the league in general.

    I do think he was one of the greatest.

    It's really an apples vs. oranges arguement here. I think LT == Gretsky all things being equal.

    what was that for?

    An NFL linebacker can't dominate on his own like a Gretzky or Jordan. My point is LT was the same kind of trancendent talent as those guys. That view is not outrageous or even really controversial. He WAS that talented.

    I recall a stud from Clemson named Kinard and a CB named Collins

    Like Denny Said, Gretzky didn't dominate, he destroyed. It's not even close, seriously.
