Dave Meggett and Jumbo Elliot were my other favorites from those teams.

Haha. ROTR, I basically took a leak on the Canadian flag. :)
    Point made, though.

He is one of the all time greats at the position, but he wasn't the greatest nor was he a transcendent talent. Being ahead of one's time does not make them transcendent.

It was a ham-handed analogy meant as a joke. Someone who isn't a hockey fan doesn't understand what Gretzky means to hockey or Canada. It wasn't intended to be offensive.

I think those videos pretty much confirm it. LT and Butkus = greatest LB's of all time.

If you did an internet search for "best nfl linebacker of all time," I'd guess that 90% of the links would list Taylor #1, and the other 10% #2. You're on your own with this one.

And the 10% are attention grabbers like Mark Jackson and his Kobe>Jordan comedy routine.

Per Peter King, in 1969, Ray Nitschke was voted the greatest all time linebacker over Dick Butkus

    Amazing what time does

You might count the rings Nitschke has. He rocked.

That's a pretty typical response. My point, which apparently wasn't obvious, was that at the very least the burden has shifted to you to prove your point. With the masses against you, simply stating that "he is overrated" isn't going to do it. Snide comments like the one I just quoted just convince me that you are incapable of making a cogent argument against LT. You want to make political analogies? Fine--then you are akin to John McCain, who offers no content, but just tries to discredit the opposition.
